How often do you go to New Orleans? (Non Orleans Parish Residents)

Of course the Covid protocols put a huge damper on it. But I find myself rarely doing normal consumer level business such as dining in New Orleans. The crime has to be taking a toll on businesses. Metairie may finally get some decent eateries if they can find the real estate.

Not unless I can’t avoid it.

Once every couple of months. Always to eat. May stop in the way home Sunday for a bite.

Used to be once a month or so but since Covid almost never. The way Latoya Cantrell went full dictator, mandating 5-year olds get an experimental vaccine, to now dumping it with the rest of the world is so hypocritical. She’s doing whatever her overlords are paying her to do and say. Ukraine is the flavor of the month now.
Amazing how quiet she’s been on the Covid issue as of late, and I seriously doubt she took the shot herself.

Only drive through NOLA once a week, and as quickly as possible.

Does the airport count even though its not in New Orleans?
If not, I rarely go anymore. In fact, It's been over 2 years since I have gone. We use to traverse the causeway 2-3 times per month either for dinner, to visit friends, Saints games etc, but not anymore.

Concert years back, flying out of airport, and a funeral.
I’ll pay more to fly out of BR.

I live a mile into Metairie from Nola. I’m in the city all the time between work and kids school. Now with the weather it’s even more to go drink and eat at the outdoor places. It’s festival season as well.
Metairie has better restaurants than y’all give credit for.

I go to New Orleans when I have to drive through the city traveling, or when I have legitimate business that requires me to go there in person.
I have been there once since 2019.

Haven’t been since 2020 between the covid mandates and the crime I avoid that city at all costs

I still occasionally go, but I have been avoiding it more vigorously since 2018/2019 for more basic trips. Not that I don't need things there. I can just get what I want in a safer environment where I don't have a target on my back.
And yeah, the height of Covid in May 2020 was no-travel for us. Not holding that against New Orleans. But afterward it was draconian mask rules and the crime wave and high profile violent acts towards completely innocent and unassuming people shopping or dining in New Orleans.

Used to a few times per year for the aquarium/insectarium, zoo, eat out at a new restaurant. Haven't been back in years.
In the early 00's, I would go spend a day during the week just walking around by the river and the quarter taking pictures.
Those were good times.
ETA: Alternatives are, the zoo in Hattiesburg is very nice, and there are some good restaurants in the Covington/Mandeville area.

I’m in Jefferson Parish less than 3 miles from Orleans.
If I can get what I need outside of the city, I do. I started doing that in response to the red light cameras and mobile speed cameras in the city, but the crime wave is another reason.

We recently came to town. Booked a hotel in Metairie. They were sold out for part of it. Tried another hotel. Same. Nothing big going on in the city at the time. Both hotels told us more and more are booking in Metairie and not the actual city due to soaring crime.

Mandeville here. Once or twice a year when required.
