6 high school girls killed in Oklahoma crash with semitruck, officials say

The six girls who died were between the ages of 15 and 17, according to a Wednesday statement from the Oklahoma Highway Patrol. The driver of the passenger vehicle was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash, along with three other victims. Two died after being transported to a hospital, according to the Oklahoma Highway Patrol.
The driver of the semi was not injured.
Footage published by a local TV station KJRH -TV showed a crumpled black vehicle with its roof ripped off. What appeared to be a pink steering wheel was separated from the vehicle and lying on the ground.

understand that the girls driver was 16 , car was rated for 4 not 6, and she did a u-turn right in front of the semi.
Parents obviously did not have sufficient safety training in mind
In texas also, its a serious traffic violation to have more than one friend in the vehicle without having an adult ride along if your are 16

How did 6 people fit inside that tiny car? I have a huge pickup and it would be difficult to seat 6 ppl in it. Tragic story though.

There is going to be some of this coming. I know in a few years they are going to build some lanes exclusively for 18 wheelers alongside I75 between Macon and Atlanta. It's more for traffic congestion reasons but I guess it might be somewhat safer to

I used to drive right through that intersection twice a day. It’s a dangerous spot. There have been bad accidents there before.

Truck driver locks brakes, trailer comes around and jackknifes, trailer takes the top off the car and its occupants?

Freaking sad story. All could have been avoided.
Was on my way into San Antonio yesterday and traffic was down to one lane on I-10 as troopers were around a semi on the side of the road. Tarp covering the driver that had been struck by a car as he was doing something beside his truck. White BMW about 300 yards past the semi with damage to the front right corner of the car.
