If you want to be a dick, report them to whatever credit card company you use. My understanding is it is heavily, heavily frowned upon.

They probably should charge a fee since they pay one. I know some gas stations charge less when you pay in cash. Somebody has to eat that cost.

Cost of business. If they refused to take credit, people would not shop there.

I paid 9 bucks for a pint of ghost last night.

I was like wtf. 9 fricking dollars for a draft beer.

Frik that dude. Its not the restaurant or waitresses fault, its the Cc companies fault. You'd be screwing yourself by saying raise the menu prices.Just bring cash. Food is expensive enough as is.. Some grocery stores and convience stores charge a fee too. Winco doesn't even accept CC because of it.

Pretty much progressed everywhere in the last 2-3 years. At one time there was a law that disallowed charging more for CC purchases than the advertised price. Some folks got around it by offering a cash discount but most just raised their retail to account for a large percentage of CC purchases.

I think it started as an effort to combat raising prices but it is here to stay I think.

Cc companies charge fees per transaction and a percent of charge. If the card is a rewards card, then the merchant pays that rewards percentage as well.

Just like a tax or labor increase. They are just pushing it to the consumer. Prices are going. Up everywhere and cutting into margins. Trying to make it up somewhere.

Our company just absorbs the CC fee. We have stores all over the US and each state has different laws regarding these fees. We asked about passing the fee to the customer but our corporate said no. I think they said the law in Alabama is you have to make the customer aware of the fee before the transaction and it would be to much of a hassle to make sure everyone did that.

Your supposed to account for this in the price of your services in total. You don't piss off customers dressing their receipts with additional charges.

The smart way to do this is to give the cash customers a discount, not charging the credit customers a premium.

It has been that way forever. It usually is factored in across the whole menu. Similar to gas stations having a cash vs card cost per gallon.

I pay for the meal and tip, all in cash. That way the waitress can just throw the ticket away, and pocket all of the cash. This recently made the waitress want to go get high, then sleep with me. I can not go back to that Waffle House.

I own a business. Over the years, the bank fees have gone up. Every month, I now get a 5% fee for all cc transactions. Just sucked out of my account.

No thanks. Passed it on to the customers. I’m not interested in paying for Joe and Susie Fatass’ free vacation because of their cc Reward program. That’s what this is all about. They get customers by offering attractive Rewards Programs. Somebody is paying for that, and it’s not me.
