Nobody was stopping Obama in 2008. He was electric and a rock star and we just had 8 years of GOP leadership and it's hard to get 12.

I think he would have been treated exactly like Trump because the establishment would have viewed him as an outsider, and a threat to their grift.

Honestly I think Paul would have been forced to get into line , smeared to oblivion, or assassinated. Unfortunately I think we the US are on a path that no individual politician even president can derail.

No obamacare. Possibly lower taxes. Not much difference overall. There would still be Congress to hurdle.

People on this board voted for Mike Huckabee and Rick fricking Santorum over Ron Paul. We deserve everything that is coming.

Hell would be freezing over because the GOP would have undercut him completely to prevent him from winning.

Christ, McCain’s underlings undercut him to prevent him from winning and McCain was doing enough damage on his own for it to be unnecessary.

We would have been out of Iraq and Afghanistan far quicker. Putin would have moved on Crimea sooner. We wouldn't have had the ACA nor the big spending package Obama pushed to try overcoming the recession.

We may have had an actual budget in 2008 & 2009 instead of running the government on CR's, but it's doubtful (at the very least there would have been budgets proposed from the WH).

What may have happened is that after a solid decade of a Republican being in the White House, the GOP doesn't take the House back in 2010, thus giving the Dems greater control at least in the House, maybe the Senate as well.

I also think the press would have framed Rand as they did Bush: a bit of a bumbling fool. If so, this would have been pushed hard leading into 2012 and likely insured a Democrat win (whether Hillary or Obama) along with a solidly Democrat Congress. This, then would usher in the spending missed during Rand's term, possibly even worse as the Democrats would have felt frustration at being held back for so long.

I think our debt might not be as high as it is now, but the differences wouldn't be enough to matter and would quickly equal out.

Were you one of the "Comic Book Guys" dressed in ill fitted sport coat from Walmart (90% looked like definitely incels) at the GOP presidential caucuses in 2012 who supported Ron boy and stood outside handing out voting lists?
