Took us 3 weeks to capture Baghdad with our mighty well funded military.
People keep parroting this line but fail to recognize that it had nothing to do with Iraqi resistance and everything to do with the plan of attack used by the U.S. high command. In the three weeks it took U.S. forces to invade Iraq and capture Baghdad, they suffered fewer than 700 total casualties (of which only 139 were killed). Compare that to the thousands of casualties Russian forces have suffered since they invaded Ukraine back on February 24.

Russia has taken skadovsk, the area is relatively resistance free. They reached the village Snihurivka in the South and are close to Orikhiv. Yesterday they launched an offensive from both Volnovakha, and Polohivskyi to encircle the remaining ukrainian troops, that launched the counteroffensive on mariupol.
Izium is still heavily contested, but not encircled, russian forces are close to Balakliia. Ukrainians seems to be counterattacking towards Sumy. Russians are pushing past Mykolaiv, and are going for Voznesensk and Antonivka, for some reason.
To the North. Chernihiv, is partially encircled, But there is apparently a gap SE of the city leading to Ukrainian held territory. Russian forces was spotted in Brovary yesterday.
That's about it.
Hopefully peace is close, Zelensky has dropped pressing for NATO membership, which was a key point for Putin. In fact it seems Ukraine doesn't have any trouble with most of the Russian demands. But they're not willing to recognize, Donetsk and Luhansk as independent regions and Crimea as russian territory. Personally i don't think the territorial disputes is something that can be solved diplomatically.

How many substantial cities do they control after two weeks? One? I believe Kherson is it. Will they get others, sure. But your idea of taking land and my idea of taking land are very different.
The second largest city
About to take the third largest city Odessa as its being essentially abandoned

So, you don’t care much for the home team? Who do you like if you don’t like Russia or the U.S.?

The fact there is still organized resistance is impressive.
After WWII there was organized resistance to the Soviets into the 1950's. This isn't going to end anytime soon.

My Cyrillic is non-existent. Are the red areas the areas captured by the madman's forces?

I think the OP one probably is where some troops have advanced, but not necessarily controlled in certain areas. That’s real answer is probably somewhere in between our maps and theirs

Well I thought Russia was going to steamroll Ukraine.
It's only been 13 days. They ARE steamrolling Ukraine.

Our real enemy lives in D.C.
I don't give a frick about the war in Europe. We should have stayed out of it but because we didn't, the American people are the ones paying the price.

I estimated 2 weeks for Kiev.
Two weeks would be like record time to do anything involving combat
Remind me again how long it took us to just give Afghanistan to the Taliban and give up?
The strategy to take Kiev in 2 weeks would be to save lives. Cut off the head. Disrupt chain of command amd communications. Kiev would take the largest toll, but it would weaken the resolve when other areas are encircled and potentially limit infrastructure damage and casualties across ukraine.
The playbook appears to be more of a march to kiev from the south. I dont know if it is a better or worse strategy. But it was not what media talking heads were expecting at onset of the invasion.
