What exactly does a pharmacist do?

I think pharmacy school is three years? What do you learn there and what’s your day to day like as a pharmacist? My doctor prescribes Drug A and you fill it. If another doctor prescribes me Drug B and doesn’t know the other doctor prescribed Drug A, is it your job to make sure they don’t have adverse reactions with one another? How often does this happen? What’s the most complex situation you’re regularly faced with as a pharmacist? I’ve always been ignorant to what exactly a pharmacist does to justify the increased schooling.

They are the last line of defense when it comes to drug interactions, especially when a patient is treated by numerous practitioners.

I am sure at one time they were a safeguard in case that happened...now I am sure a computer flags any medications that could cause adverse reactions taken with another. So they count pills

In the old days pharmacies usually had a soda fountain or a lunch counter. Pretty weird to have sick people on one side of the store and people eating on the other side.
