Alexander Lukashenko, the self-proclaimed president of Belarus, has dismissed Viktor Gulevich, Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Belarus, due to his age.
quote:This should be an interesting test of Lukashenko's power.
Gulevich had served as the commander of the Western Operational Command of the Armed Forces of Belarus since February 2020. Lukashenko appointed him as chief of the General Staff and first deputy defence minister on 11 March 2021.

That was one of his other personalities that post that.

Since 2014, the Russian-controlled facility has been the key fuel hub to supply the occupation forces.
Good.
I hope Ukraine butchers the whole of Russian O&G infrastructure. Russia hit Ukrainian power plants, it's only fair Ukraine hits Russian O&G.

Russia Hit with Unexpected Headache from Oil Refinery Attacks
Published May 10, 2024 at 5:29 AM EDT
Russian workers are quitting their jobs at oil refineries en masse over safety fears amid a spate of Ukrainian drone attacks targeting President Vladimir Putin's energy infrastructure, according to a report.
A former employee at the Kuibyshev Refinery, which is one of the largest oil industry enterprises in the Samara region, and owned by Rosneft, the country's largest oil producer, said he and many others resigned after the facility was attacked by Ukrainian drones in late March.
The Kuibyshev refinery halted all production after it sustained damage in the attack, Reuters reported at the time, noting that around 14 percent of Russia's refining capacity had been shut down by drone attacks.
Ukraine has been attacking Russian energy infrastructure facilities to target Putin's oil industry, the cornerstone of his country's economy. Moscow depends on its oil exports and energy industry, which make up some 30 percent of the country's budget revenues and are crucial for the funding of the war in Ukraine. Newsweek has contacted Russia's Foreign Ministry for comment by email.

Today's package is actually 100 Bradleys.

Depends a lot on who as to how bad this impacts refineries. Process unit operators are usually in blast resistant control rooms, then again it's Russia who DGAF. Times have changed a lot. They really don't go outside to check gauges or turn valves like the used to, though some of that is still performed manually.

I said I was cutting back, which I have done. See you in a week when your fellow cuck Mike Johnson approves another aid package while again failing to address the invasion of our own country

Interesting. Germany is giving the US government $30 million to buy three HIMARS launchers from current DoD stock to send immediately to Ukraine.

Well from the sound of it Russia is making progress on one front and poised to attack in different spots as they stretch ukraine's already thin lines.
What a waste of humanity on both sides when the inevitable is clearly in site and has been for quite some time.

All armored vehicles need anti-drone systems. I wonder what the survival rate of the crews was in those lost Bradleys.
Posted on 5/10/24 at 9:29 pm to Auburn1968
All reports have been that the survival rate has been high. And the Bradleys have really kicked butt and destroyed lots of Russian armored vehicles.
At the time they were first given, Ukraine was more interested in Abrams tanks than Bradleys, but that would not be the case today.

Yes, and the Army leadership has kept Belarus out of the fighting. Hopefully Gulevich was dismissed as he was seen as a threat to Lukashenko politically and not as the primary obstacle to entry.
Big 'if', but if Gulevich has support from the security services and criminal gangs, this could get froggy for Lukashenko. We should watch Lukashenko's movements in the coming days to see what is what.

INTELLIGENCE UPDATE
UPDATE ON UKRAINE 11 May 2024
It has been reported that a Russian fighter aircraft accidentally released a FAB-500 munition on a civilian area in Belgorod, Russia on 04 May 2024. The Belgorod Regional Governor Vyacheslav Gladkov confirmed the explosion and damage on Razdobarkina street, Belgorod without identifying the cause. 30 houses and 10 cars were damaged, with five individuals requiring hospital care, illustrating the destructive power of the munition.
This is not an isolated incident. On 18 February a FAB-250 was reportedly released on Soloti in the Belgorod area which led to the evacuation of 150 residents. Media outlets suggest that such discharges are fairly common with 20 lost munitions accidentally dropped in the Belgorod region alone between March to April 2024.
These instances indicate Russia's continued inability to successfully employ their munitions on intended targets. Such errors have destructive and lethal consequences for the Russian population.

Key Takeaways:
Russian forces began an offensive operation along the Russian-Ukrainian border in northern Kharkiv Oblast on the morning of May 10 and made tactically significant gains. Russian forces are likely conducting the initial phase of an offensive operation north of Kharkiv City that has limited operational objectives but is meant to achieve the strategic effect of drawing Ukrainian manpower and materiel from other critical sectors of the front in eastern Ukraine.
Russian forces will likely leverage their tactical foothold in northern Kharkiv Oblast in the coming days to intensify offensive operations and pursue the initial phase of an offensive effort likely intended to push back Ukrainian forces from the border with Belgorod Oblast and advance to within tube artillery range of Kharkiv City.
The limited efforts that Russian forces are currently conducting do not suggest that Russian forces are immediately pursuing a large-scale sweeping offensive operation to envelop, encircle, and seize Kharkiv City, however.
Russian offensive operations along the Kharkiv international border likely have the strategic objective of drawing and fixing Ukrainian forces to this axis to enable Russian advances in other areas of eastern Ukraine.
ISW continues to assess that Russian forces will likely struggle to seize Kharkiv City should they aim to do so.
Russian forces likely decided to launch offensive operations along the international border area to take the best advantage of the relatively brief time left before Western aid arrives at the Ukrainian frontline at scale.
Ukrainian Ground Forces Commander Lieutenant General Oleksandr Pavlyuk stated that the war in Ukraine will enter a critical phase in the next two months and commented on recent Russian advances around Chasiv Yar and Avdiivka.
US President Joe Biden approved up to $400 million worth of military assistance for Ukraine as part of the Presidential Drawdown Authority Fund on May 10.
Ukrainian forces conducted a drone strike on the night of May 9 to 10 against an oil refinery in Kaluga Oblast that Ukrainian forces previously struck in March 2024.
Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin is retaining his position in the Russian government for Russian President Vladimir Putin's new term of office, and there have been speculations but no confirmations of changes to Putin's cabinet.
US Assistant Secretary of Defense for Space Policy John Plumb stated that US defense officials partnered with SpaceX to stop the Russian military's unauthorized use of Starlink internet terminals in frontline areas of Ukraine.
Russian forces recently marginally advanced near Donetsk City and in the Donetsk-Zaporizhia Oblast border area.
Russian and Belarusian authorities continue to illegally deport Ukrainian citizens, including children, to Russia and Belarus.
