I'm betting Russian pilots are the least of their worries. Agree though, I figured they would find some this way. Seen plenty of videos of Americans, Brits, etc running around with rifles

Washington Post: Russia uses trolls to undermine US support for Ukraine

So Russia sees value in pulling the wool over the American public's eyes to sway public opinion on this war, and people think Ukraine (and forces in our own government) aren't doing the same thing?

I feel like Russia disinformation, corruption, etc is a known commodity at this point and it should just be assumed in discussions. The Ukrainian side to me is a much more interesting/relevant topic in debates on whether or not to continue funding them, or how much we continue to do so. And thats not even saying they are just as bad at is as Russia, thats highly unlikely IMO.

He has the bomb damage assessment data to push the Kremlin narrative within hours of the event.

He doesn't even try to disguse it or soft pedal it or anything

Most of the time I just show that Ukraine is full of shite on a lot of claims, what's wrong with getting correct information? So what if I get paid a couple million rubles a year, it's a nice side gig.

Correct info from the famously trustworthy Russian MoD and Telegram, where telling the truth (ala Girkin) will get you 10 years in prison.

With Putin at the helm, a few million roubles is going to be worth about $3.50

Ukraine needs air supremacy to win a war of attrition in a meaningful way. 90 F-16s could grant them air supremacy.

A pack of Wild Weasels and 90 F-16s with a good number of experienced contract volunteer pilots would turn the tables pretty quickly.

A bridge, which is the main transportation hub between Belarus and Russia, collapsed in Smolensk region

According to preliminary data, three people were injured. They were in a car and a truck, which fell together with the bridge.

The bridge passed over the Moscow-Minsk railroad tracks - the main transportation corridor between Belarus and Russia is blocked.

Sabotage or lack of maintenance? It is Russia so I could believe both, but the bridge that happens to fail from lack of maintenance just happens to be over the main rail lines?

No it collapsed when a red dump truck tried to cross it. Video of the collapse. It's definitely from lack of lack of maintenance.

I wonder if they ever stop and think about the corruption in Russia where their bridges are falling and their dams are failing outside of a war zone and not being hit by ships.

If Russia wants that gasoline and likely diesel with jet fuel from Belorussia, it better have other railroads. I seriously doubt that there are product pipelines for a nation all about railroads like an Ayn Rand novel.

ISW Update

Key Takeaways:

Ukrainian drone strikes against Russian oil refineries are reportedly forcing Russia to seek gasoline imports from Kazakhstan.

Ukraine’s Main Military Intelligence Directorate (GUR) indirectly suggested that it may have been responsible for an explosion that disabled a Russian Baltic Fleet small missile carrier at the naval base in Baltiysk, Kaliningrad Oblast on April 7.

Recent discourse among select Russian milbloggers highlights contradictory Russian rhetoric in the Russian information space between narratives that seek to portray Russian forces as more capable than Ukrainian forces and other narratives that seek to criticize the Russian military for shortcomings that result in high Russian infantry casualties.

The Kremlin-affiliated governor of the pro-Russian Moldova autonomous region of Gagauzia, Yevgenia Gutsul, insinuated that Romanian officials control the Moldovan government — the latest in a series of recent Kremlin efforts to question European pro-Western governments’ sovereignty.

Russian forces recently made confirmed advances near Kreminna, Bakhmut, Avdiivka, and Donetsk City.

Russian President Vladimir Putin instructed the Russian Cabinet of Ministers and Russian machine construction company KONAR JSC to increase the production of components for the domestic machine tools industry, likely as part of ongoing efforts to expand the Russian defense industrial base (DIB) and mitigate the effects of international sanctions.

Does this mean that none of the companies in Russia's DIB are ordering them to begin with, or does it mean that delivery is lagging far behind orders? Either way it's not a good sign that there is a labor force able to product one or the other.

INTELLIGENCE UPDATE
UPDATE ON UKRAINE 09 April 2024

Open source photographs from 31 March 2024 showed missile debris that had impacted in a field in Saratov Oblast, southern Russia. Initially thought to be pieces of a possible Ukrainian uncrewed aerial vehicle, closer inspection revealed the debris to highly likely be fragments of a Russian AS-23a KODIAK air-launched cruise missile.

It is highly likely the debris was the result of a malfunction of a KODIAK missile that was launched towards Ukraine earlier that morning. Saratov Oblast is a known launch box for Russian Long-Range Aviation bomber strikes and is the home of Engels Airfield, where several of the bombers are based.

The AS-23a KODIAK is Russia's premier precision guided munition, with a range of approximately 4,000km. It has been used extensively against Ukraine, most recently targeting energy infrastructure across the country. The highly likely malfunction of such a prestigious missile indicates issues in its production, likely impacted by sanctions and being rushed to meet the demands of the conflict.

Energoatom plans to build Ukrainian plant for nuclear fuel production

Ukrainska Pravda, Tuesday, 9 April 2024, 13:41

Energoatom, Ukraine's state nuclear energy regulator, plans to construct a facility for the production of spent fuel assemblies near the city of Yuzhnoukrainsk located close to the South Ukraine Nuclear Power Plant.

Source: Energoatom's press service with reference to Petro Kotin, acting Head of Energoatom,

Quote from Kotin: "We decided to locate the plant near the city of Yuzhnoukrainsk. However, we didn't expect such strong support from the city's residents."

Details: Kotin added that the production will be based on the technology of the American company Westinghouse.

Spent fuel assembly is the final product used as fuel in nuclear power plants.

Background:

On 2 April, the Cabinet of Ministers approved a bill on the construction of the third and fourth power units of the Khmelnytskyi Nuclear Power Plant.
The first batches of Westinghouse nuclear fuel were delivered to the Khmelnytskyi Nuclear Power Plant. From that point, all domestic nuclear power plants will use American fuel.

Why buy Russian tools when they could have bought tools that work? Just remember the slogan for Russia’s best car. “If you want to become a mechanic, buy a Lada.”
