What were their payroll taxes for the year?
Did the company have a tax liability at the end of the year or did they make their quarterly estimates correctly and have no tax liability due at the end of the year??
Notice they don’t differentiate between having a balance due at the end of the year and these companies tax liabilities for the year.

I'm sure that's not true. Probably just corporate income tax while they paid a fortune in property, sales, and salary taxes.

There are two things at play here. The first is that there are lots of perks built into the tax code. The second, and more important, is that the tax code has been adjusted over the years to properly recognize that business cycles are NOT annual. This is why businesses are allowed to do things such as carry forward losses to offset future profits. Often that can result in a zero tax rate in certain years.
But it's not like these businesses aren't paying taxes at all. That's just another lie by the leftists. They may not pay corporate income tax at the federal level in some given years, but they are paying billions in payroll, property, sales, and other taxes.

The middle class who are employees and customers for the affected companies will be hit by the increased taxation at least once, and the benefits returned won’t match those negatives.
