Why should taxpayers outside New Orleans foot the bill for the problems Toya created, let fester, and whose administration is responsible for managing the city.

Hope the Republican led legislature tells her to pay for and solve her own crime problems.

Guess reforming the criminal justice system doesn't actually work?

Or, it's working just as intended if she gets this money.

The administration plans to:

Ask the City Council to exempt detention counselors and mechanics from the requirement that employees live in New Orleans, as police, fire and EMS employees already are exempted. It also plans to ask the Legislature to authorize state supplemental pay for emergency medical technicians and paramedics, something they have long sought.

Add 25 new human resources staffers, in part to beef up employee performance monitoring and discipline. The Police Department would get its first-ever unclassified human resources director, one not subject to Civil Service rules. A classified police HR administrator position has been unfilled for several years.

Propose increased pay scales for some positions across the government. That would require approval from the Civil Service Commission, which has not been briefed on the plans, Personnel Director Amy Trepagnier said.

That’s what NOLA needs, more HR staffers

No.

Destroyah and the DA are responsible for this mess through handcuffing NOPD and not prosecuting crooks.

Don’t reward them for doing so.

Prosecute crimes or accept responsibility for this new normal.

Why does NOPD need an unclassified HR person, not subject to civil service rules?

The state should help because what happens in NOLA affects the rest of the state.

However, they should do so once Jason Williams steps down.

That would be a good question if we actually had a media to ask it

You mean Troop N, the State Police troop dedicated to nothing but the city of New Orleans, didn't help?

Obviously they were a racist organization. Why else call it Troop N to be dedicated to protecting a chocolate city?

DA is an elected position guys, he doesn't work for her. Anyone who had anything to do with disbanding the TIGER Unit should be fired immediately. The biggest culprit of this shite Show is John Thomas who is now the head of the State's Homeland Security replacing Terry Ebert.
