Regret not joining the military

As I get older the regret grows. I did not get married until I was in my early 30’s. I wished I would have joined the military right out of high school and then went to college or made a career out of it.
Anybody else feel the same way?

How old are you?
I have no desire to die in the middle east in a proxy war

Definitely not. Appreciate those that did/do, but it's not for me.

Nope, not I. But I think it's a great idea for a lot of people. Would definitely have made me a more disciplined person I'm sure

I did it and don't regret it but looking back I'd give it 1 1/2 stars. I wouldn't waste time regretting not doing it either.

I feel that way sometimes. Kind of relates to my regret at getting sucked into an office job after many years of plant / offshore work.
I could never fight on behalf of the Yankees, though. They're just pure evil.

Thankfully, there were plenty of us with the stones to join and don’t have a single regret about it.

To be some test subjects for an experimental chemical injection? No thanks

I did ROTC. Spent 2 years in S. Korea , a year in Germany, and the rest state side. Learned enough to see that our military has problems. You did not miss anything.

I’m not sure I know anyone that came out of that machine ok. Messed a lot of family and extended family up, or maybe they just ended up serving because they were messed up.

Six months into active duty, I knew the army life wasn't for me. Did the rest of my time and got out. I don't regret signing up, but if I had to do it all over again, it wouldn't get done.

No. Especially now that I'm older and understand the people in elected positions. I respect the frick out of the people that do serve, but I also feel bad for those that think they are fighting for a country that doesn't exist anymore.
If the time came to protect my family from the Dems trying to take over I'm going out in a blaze of glory, but the military leadership in its current form can get fricked. Rank and file deserve leadership in exchange for their bravery. They don't have that in the slightest at the upper crust.

I have 0 interest in joining the military and never will have interest, unless it's "enlist or die and watch your family die"

You didn't miss much. It changed my life for the good but only recommend it for ONE contract only IF you don't have your goal set. I didn't know what I wanted to do.
I did my time and got out. I have zero school debt and made a lot of friends but it leads to such terrible pay and a miserable life. Especially in today's military.
