I did 32 years, retired in 2017. Loved every minute, had a blast, of course I was AF, which is basically like being in the cub scouts, except not as tough.

My time in the Army is the million dollar experience I wouldn’t pay a dollar for.

I had some of my best times and met some of the best people while in the Marines. I also had some of the worst times and met some of the worst people too

Did 16 years and only regret not doing 20. One bad deployment and 2 additional fairly easy ones. For the most part, got to see alot of the world (places worth seeing) and had a shite ton of really good "currency" trips. No regrets other than what I mentioned above.

It has changed greatly since I got out.

I did in my 30s. Now I'm in my early 40s and I no longer do.
This country isn't worth fighting for any more

Got a sweet 30k tax free bonus, though. Seemed like a no-brainer at the time.

Damn dude it was tax free for you? Man they taxed my shite when I re-enlisted. Trick is try and re-enlist overseas with a bonus. Zero taxes then

Wow this guy
I'm not saying the military is loaded with academic masterminds but a statement like this makes me think you are not very bright.

Retired in 2019 after 22 years of active duty and mostly reserves in the Navy. I don't regret it, but my relationships, business, marriage all suffered. I didn't play the political game and make the highest rank for an officer that is not a flag rank. I'm glad I got out under Trump and not the LGBTQ, transgender loving freak Joe Brandon.

Nope because I did join. You missed the boat. I laughed at GDGs when they acted like their little frat was the end all be all of friendships. I still laugh at them. I have 12 guys at least I can call and if needed they will drop everything and be here kitted up in under 24 hours. No questions asked.

I can't say that I enjoyed all of my time in the Navy but I did enjoy most of it.

I like this quote.

Sometimes I wonder if the bullshite was worth it in the end but I did make some damn good memories and made good friends along that chapter of my life. It also set me up for a career so there's that.

It can also lead to a great life and very good pay. The military, like most things in life, is about personal drive and taking advantage of the situations you are put into. If you are too stupid or lazy to network and acquire a diverse skill set in the military then you probably would be about the same in the civilian side too.

I regret not hearing Thank You For Your Service while spending 4 years in Georgia operating a bull dozer.
