And O got a national championship in 3 years. You know how that worked out.

You going to compare the state of the football program with the state of the basketball program.

Wade took over a team that was at the VERY bottom of the SEC and had 10 wins the year before. In two years he won the league and made a Sweet 16.

O took over a program that was consistently in the Top 25 (if not Top 10).

While WW has hit a tough 7 game stretch, he did not immediately tank the year after winning the league (like O). In fact, he has provided some sustained success this basketball program hasn't seen in 30 years.

O on the other hand, provided the 2 worst seasons LSU football has seen since 1998-1999.

Nice try, but these are not accurate comparisons.

You’re an idiot, but you know my original post was referring to pre-season expectations. An interim
Bracketology seed projection isn’t the same fricking thing as season expectations.

Yeah. That 2018-19 team went 16-2 in the league on their own talent. Surely all those guys got drafted…

Oh wait, you mean only one guy got drafted off that team that year.

But the rant told me he only won because he had better talent than everyone else in the SEC.

Kentucky had 3 taken in the first round,
Tennessee had multiple players taken, Arkansas, Miss St. and Vandy had the exact same number of players drafted as LSU in 2019.

There are some really stupid people hanging around lately. Is he in a tough stretch, absolutely. He’s a 39 year old coach probably going through his toughest stretch yet, kind of like Bruce Pearl going through a similar stretch in 2019 and again last. Does that mean he needs to get better, of course. Does that mean he’s a terrible coach all the sudden, hell no.

When Pinson went down I absolutely expected a slump like this

You expected to go 1-6 and getting their poop pushed in by 2 of the bottom teams in the conference?

If that is what you expected out of Wade then why do you want to keep him?

This team when fully healthy was on track to have the best defensive season of ANY team in the last 10 years. Your starting PG goes down and then a few other players get injured and the productivity goes way down, its not like we got magically worse.

True. But they fact is they got even better defensively following the loss of Pinson. I'm not saying they got better BECAUSE of his loss. Just that the defense did not immediately fall off once he went down.

The drop off began slowly with the second Tennessee game. Perhaps, not so coincidentally, they were the first opponent to play LSU twice this season. That may have given others the blue print to attack LSU and LSU hasn't adjusted.

quote:

Losses to Ole Miss and Vandy were definitely worrisome but lets not jump off a cliff here people. You don't just randomly go from historically elite to average all of a suddent.

That is kind of exactly what is happening. TCU, Ole Miss and Vandy were ALL sub-100 offenses. LSU went from not having a 100+ defensive rating all season (the lower the number the better) to suddenly having three straight vs. TCU, Ole Miss and Vanderbilt. NONE of those teams have been good this year offensively. Even against just average defensive teams. In the span of 2 weeks they have gone from allowing the fewest adjusted points per 100 possessions in 20 years to now 3rd in the nation in that category with seemingly no end to the drop in sight. The point is that they were still playing good defense even after Pinson went down. The last three games have been well below average (not just LSU's average).

It is more than just injuries suddenly catching up to LSU. One game can be an anomaly. Two is a bit concerning. Three is a trend. That is what is happening now and it will continue if the team doesn't make some adjustments soon.

Well he was wrong about one thing, CWW won a regular season SEC championship. He did seem kinda salty though. Was he just trying to create click bait so he can move on from his lowly local TV weekend sports guy gig? He's not even the #1 sports guy for the local news channel.

i think this team is mentally exhausted from the struggles recently. i believe the 2nd half of arkansas game is where the wheels started to lose their lug nuts.

Pinson was a calming presence on the court for the team. Days can only do so much as the senior leader since he doesn’t run the offense.

He constantly trashes all LSU sports. When I see his face I change the channel. The rest of you should too.

I agree totally, this team isn’t very good, but by no means is our Basketball Program in a dumpster, this team fading, program is alright. This is not football, just go look at ydays & Saturday scores. It’s a long season made longer by this skid, but a run is not out of the ?

Any reasonably person would expect this team to struggle with the injuries they've dealt with. I can live with (while being annoyed by) all of the recent losses except for the last two. No way on Earth should we lose at home to that Ole Miss team and get beaten like we did against Vandy. All is not lost, but goddamn it looks bleak right now.

How many more years will this be a good excuse for you? His recruiting rankings since arriving average among the best in the country!

Also, he has won fewer conference games each year since 2019 and obviously that trend will continue this year.

I think it's telling that Will Wade's comments indicate he's throwing in the towel. Not very confidence-inspiring.

I remember he put out some super cringey tweet about Burrow being Trevors “daddy” when Trevor Lawrence got engaged in college. Grown man working for a news station and saying some stupid shite like that tells you all you need to know about the guy

Grade I MCL injury difficult to come back quick with such limited lateral movement and high risk to reinjure in basketball, tennis, stand up martial arts, etc

Yeah, they were projected a 1-2 seed not terribly long ago.

Who made those predictions? Was it the same fair weather fans who now want him fired?

He doesn't have the same team he had when those dreamers were predicting.

What would be the odds on the Bengals without Chase and Higgins?
Would the Bengals HC be a bad coach?

Really, has he ever had the best class in the SEC?

How many times has he had the second best class in the SEC?

Spoiler alert here are his class rankings just in the SEC:

2021 - 3rd

2020 - 2nd

2019 - 7th

2018 - 2nd

2017 - 4th

Average - between 3 and 4 (3.6)

Do you know where we have finished in the league in those years:

2017- 10th

2018 - 1st

2019 - 3rd

2020 - 3rd

Average 4th place

Our finish in the league is pretty close to our talent level.

I know the narrative is that he just has more talent than everyone else, but the stats and NBA draft picks do not bear that out.

Digging into more than narrative is usually important when you are going to make a statement.

LSU won more games in the last 3 seasons than any other SEC team... come on man, a slump when your starting PG is down isn't a dumpster fire.
