If you’re leaning towards a 3/4 .. look into buying a well equipped Gasser either the 6.2l or the new Godzilla engine. Save the 10K up charge on the Diesel. Long term maintenance savings will also save you money.

My thoughts exactly. My 2012 Lariat is in excellent shape, only has 90k miles and is paid for. There is absolutely zero chance I trade that in for a new overpriced truck that they refuse to deal on. I'll gladly wait it out.

If you want to haul kids around and don’t need to tow, get a minivan. For real.

If you don’t need a 3/4 ton, then certainly do not get a 3/4 ton.

Wait a couple years for Toyota to work out any kinks.

Don’t waste money on a king ranch. XLT or Lariat are plenty loaded enough for a pickup. Those trucks are in the $40k-60k range.

Avoid a sunroof.

Yeah I shopped new F150s last summer and the selection was paltry and prices crazy high with no negotiating. The Ford dealership in Katy normally has hundreds on the lot but only had a couple dozen and they were mostly higher trim level, like king ranch and platinum, which I didn’t want. I’ll just hold onto my 2016 paid off Tundra.

Have 0 need for a 3/4 ton truck

As a fellow baw who drives a F250 with no need(anymore) for a F250, I advise other baws against purchasing a F250 unless they really NEED a F250. I've seriously considered downsizing to a 1/2 ton or even something like a Tacoma but can't convince myself to pull the trigger with these high prices. I eventually want to get a 3rd vehicle to daily drive and park the truck for truck things.

You'll have a rougher ride
You'll have higher operating cost(assuming diesel vs gas)
You'll have higher maintenance cost(oil changes/fuel filters every 10k miles)
You'll have higher cost on your wear and tear items(brakes/shocks/suspension components, tires etc.)

Unless you're yanking around a 30' offshore boat or something like a 35' fifth wheel camper a 1/2 ton will handle everything you'll throw at it.

It’s not that complicated. Just bought a 2021 F150 XLT 4wd. TONS of room. Travel a ton with a big Lab and she has the entire back seat. Tonneau cover that keeps all our gear stored and dry. It’ll tow a house. Room for kid seats x3. Gas mileage pretty good. Ecoboost and power to spare.

new Godzilla engine

Exactly what I order back in December and I'm told I have another 8 weeks to wait for shipment.

For some odd reason there was a delay on the build, but had nothing to do with electronics, but had to do with the spray in bed liner and 5th wheel/gooseneck prep package I order with it. I removed those parts of the order and it's now in the que to build.

We just got a new Expedition and it’s really nice if you go the SUV route. The V6 turbo is a nice engine. My wife’s Pathfinder was crapping out and the local Ford dealership was the only place that had a bunch of new vehicles on the lot.

The prices of used vehicles are crazy so when you look at finance rates and warranties it pays to just buy new.

This. I had a drunk hit me and destroy my car. Had to buy one. I seriously thought about riding the bus for a year.

You will be waiting a long time if ever. Demand for new vehicles is so high it will take years for supply to catch up. There will be no reason for dealers to drop prices from what they are now.

My next truck will be a F350 with the 7.3l … I need it to haul occasionally heavy loads.

I have a 3/4 ton gasser. I’d recommend it. More payload and the ability to tow more than the 1/2 ton. Those gas engines are pushing decent numbers.

Plus extra security in knowing the criminals will pay if they try to stop your truck by braking in front of you.

It's insane

I can get 15k more than I actually paid for my 2020 Denali HD Duramax and It's 2 years old with 34k miles

I've thought about taking the dealers offer, because I still have my 2001 Duramax that I could run my business with.

Love my Ram 1500. I hate ford w/ a passion, the whole design inside and out never appealed to me. Had a chevy for 11 years prior, but I heard quality went down big time...and mine was burning a lot of oil. Ram has a tried and true 5.7, the Transmission is German and butter smooth and reliable. No leaf springs in rear make a huge ride quality difference. Have 2 young kids, rear seat space is massive. Have a bed cover so storage for luggage and such is as large as any SUV. Laramie package was good value... or so I thought, especially vs a similar Lariat ford. Etorque start/stop is really amazing...almost imperceptible. Gas mileage is about 17 mixed...I averaged 21 going to Florida, about the same as the turbo charged 6's and much more reliable naturally aspirated 8 cylinder. Ram has really come a long way, check one out before you buy.
