New vehicle advice

Need help deciding on my next vehicle. I have pretty much gone full circle from swearing off Ford to back looking at an F250 to replace my 2013 F150. Have 0 need for a 3/4 ton truck, but the diesel value is there along with space. F250 King Ranch is a nice vehicle and should hold up fine.
I originally wanted to move towards an SUV since kid/s are in the picture. Was liking the looks of the GMC Yukon AT4 and even the Escalade with its absurd price tag. The problem is it seems like all GM vehicles are absolute pieces of shite after about 5 years. Paint fades, buttons wear off, sounds like 100 parts are lose when you hit a bump, etc. Therefore I basically wrote of all GM.
Toyota/Lexus is known for being dependable, but that also could be coming to end with the release of the new motors. Not really a fan of the design of any particular Toyota except maybe the LC, but have to go used and the cost for a used LC is absurd. Like the new Lexus LX600 but those prices are also absurd. Wife wants a GX next so getting that for the interim is an option, even though I don't particular care for the way her current Lexus drives (2014 RX).
Love the Bronco but I feel in a few years with at least 1 kid its going to feel small. If I got one I'd want to keep it forever and I'm not sure that's realistic at this time.
All this brought me back to F150 and F250. F150 KR with powerboost is nearly the cost of the F250, which leads me to the F250.
Thoughts? I'm at quite the crossroads, and not sure there is much on the horizon for me to hold out for.

Have a 250 on order since late October…hopefully they get to building it soon.

I wouldn't want a diesel unless I was towing daily. I wouldn't want a 250 unless I was towing heavy. A full size SUV will tow almost anything a normal person needs to tow. I have a full size SUV to tow my 23ft bay boat. I do miss a truck bed every now and then, but I just rent a trailer for $15-20 when I need it. It is SO much cheaper to rent a trailer than buy one when you only use it a few times a year. I'd get the F150 with coyote if you must have a truck, I guess the expedition with ecoboost would be a decent SUV option but I might look at a GM product with the 6.2 in it. I am personally not spending $70k on a vehicle new so I will be looking at this crop of vehicles in 5-7 years.

The F150 and the F250 both utilize the same cab. They're the same size interior.

Good luck, I’m hearing about another round of chip shortages at the moment. I also ordered a f150 2 months ago and I’m not expecting it until at least May

My best friend has a 250KR on order as well. Been on order since October also and they can’t tell him when it will be in.
Went price a suburban for my wife…. Told me if I order now it might be in by summer and it cold turn into a 2023 model.

There is exactly ONE f250 King Ranch 4x4 diesel within 100 miles of Memphis.
It’s $85k.

Through family, I can get Ford AZ pricing, so I’m stuck waiting as well. It is very tempting that I can get Chevy 2500 LTZ for 8-10k less and it’s on the lot right now.

I have no idea why anyone would purchase a new vehicle right now unless it was an absolute necessity, like you can’t get to work tomorrow necessity.

Damn good to know. Dealer in Houston told me 12 weeks. Sounds like they just trying to get a “sale”.
Guess I’ll just drive my truck until the engine breaks or wheels fall off. Wanted to pull the trigger knowing dealers were offering $20k for a 9 year old truck with 100k miles.

I passed through Louisville KY a few weeks ago and the fairgrounds was filled to the max with F-250 and up series trucks built and waiting on chips

I have a 2018 Ford F-150. I bought it 3 years ago used for $39,000 with 30,000 miles. New F-150's were $49,000 at the time.
It has 82,000 miles now and last week I got offered $35,000 for it on trade for a new F-150 that cost $54,000.
2 years ago, my F-150 wouldn't have gotten $25,000 in trade. So I gained at least $10,000 in value, while new trucks went up $5,000 in cost.
A few months ago I called a dealer about a used 2021 F-150. It had a couple of thousand miles on it. The price they quoted was more than new. When I told them that, their answer was "yeah."
Looking at it purely from an economic standpoint, I'd be dumb not to buy the new truck just to make it a used truck. If they'd just get another one in stock...

There may be more. I assume you are using auto trader. Not all dealers are on there. I found several trucks I was interested in by looking at individual dealer’s websites. They had trucks I was interested in that did not show up on autotrader. I probably found more that fit my criteria by searching smaller dealers websites then I did via autotrader.
Also, in response to not buying now. I needed to buy a truck this year. And I don’t think things are going to get better on availability or price this year. This chip shortage is major, and most folks I talked with said it will probably be next year before things get better. i was planning on buying this summer hoping it would be better/easier. However I don’t think it will be. Right now Ford is offering low financing when financed thru them; 1.9% on 4 wheel drives and 0% on new 2021 model 2 wheel drives. Interest rates are going up. So my thought process was that if prices and availability are not going to get better but interest rates are going to get worse, go ahead and buy now. In addition, they are offering a little dealer incentive money (at least where I bought) on new 2021 model trucks. So while I was scared to even start shopping because of all the horror stories, I ended up only paying $5k more for this truck than I did a comparable new one in 2017. Their are no deals to be had, but there are fair prices out there (except for Toyota) if you look. The biggest problem is finding what you want.
