The suit, filed late Monday (Jan. 31) in Orleans Parish Civil District Court, was brought on behalf of more than 100 plaintiffs, about half of whom live in Orleans Parish, and half of whom reside in Jefferson Parish or other parts of Louisiana, attorneys said. They contend the Cantrell administration’s vaccine and mask mandates are unlawfully excluding them from enjoying activities in New Orleans such as dining in the city’s restaurants, visiting its museums or taking advantage of paid gym memberships, among other complaints. The suit, which has been allotted to the docket of Judge Robin Giarusso, says the plaintiffs have “endured nearly two years of unprecedented executive control during the COVID-19 pandemic. What started as a temporary means to protect the community from unknown risks has turned into perpetual, unlawful overreach.”

Not sure if those names have been released. . There is an IG account Bayou Mama Bears that seems to be spearheading this suit.

Awesome, really glad to hear.
What these politicians have done is criminal.
However the people that cheer them on and defend them are the true scum.

I think she may double down with additional restrictions simply as punishment for questioning her authority. Kind of like when the Nazis would shoot ten prisoners because one tried to escape.

Hopefully someone goes after Tate and LSU for their little illegal ploy.

That’s all? While I applaud the effort, it shouldn’t have been necessary firstly and secondly everyone should have filed suit.

The fact that she will feel no need to recuse, shows how pointlessly useless the City Council is.

Won’t it still go “up the chain” in the court system though?

Yeah. She may actually be the best choice of any to get it moving.

The plaintiff attorney is Leon Cannizzaro’s daughter. She’s also been close with Gusman. So I’m guessing this is supported by that faction and the savenola.org group, Bill Aaron and the small group of sane business people in New Orleans. Interesting to see if any hospitality names went along for the ride.

At some point it will need to be actually documented what “emergency powers” mean. The way Teedy and Avegno see it, it means they say jump and the citizens of Nola say how high.
