It's really gonna suck when virtually all publishers and developers are owned by Microsoft/Sony/Nintendo

I know Destiny prints money, but I tried to get into it and couldn't, so not a huge loss for me being a PC/Xbox consumer.

I didn’t realize Bungie has only made 2 games since 2010 (Destiny 1 and 2)

Yeah I really tried with Destiny 2 and couldn't get into it.

This is why our world is in the trouble it is now.
Just a select few own the majority. It’s a dangerous path as we can already visibly see.

This is just Sony grasping for a power play.
Now. halo is coming out with more content but I don’t know if they can sustain success into the future with the same story/character. While beloved, it’s tiresome.

Careful, Bungie is the studio that keeps marrying and divorcing big publishers.
Congrats to Sony for finally getting some genre variety.

Here's hoping Bungie starts using Sony tech in future titles so they can stop whining about the difficulties of using their tech to justify content vaulting.

Congrats to Sony for finally getting some genre variety.
It was just a publishing agreement with Activision. And good for them by getting out of it. It was bad for Destiny.
This time Bungie is actually being bought by Sony. Big difference.
They have said their games will still be multi-platform going forward.

I just got back into destiny 2 and its still my favorite shooter. plus the addition of cross platform makes it easier to find people to play with. Especially if your friends all got the new xbox and you didnt.

Is Destiny worth $3.6B?
Can't be can it?

Bungie hasn't been relevant since Halo. Not a big loss for xbox owners honestly.

Destiny is not my thing at all, but this is just nonsense
Destiny 1 made $325M in its first 5 days after launch. They made $375M in 2019 alone when Destiny 2 was released in 2017
Looter shooters aren't (and never will be) my thing, but there's no denying that Destiny is very successful and has incredible engagement levels from players. Every Destiny player I know seems to have put in at LEAST 500 hours.
Guess Bungie is gonna be Sony's FPS studio. There have been rumors of a new IP in development, anxious to see what they cook up.

I'm honestly shocked that Bungie commanded that kind of price. Makes Zenimax look like the deal of the century now.

Seems like a lot for what revenue Bungie brings in. Must be more behind the scenes

Yeah the economics imply this is far more of a capabilities/infrastructure buy more than it is buying the Destiny IP and squeezing more juice out of it.
