Why do people get irrationally angry at dogs after accidentally stepping on them?

It's not enough that our canine friends get hurt by a person's lack of peripheral vision, but then they're made to suffer the indignity of a verbal lashing by their owners on top of it.

Stay out from under my feet and you won't get stepped on.

Because said dog or kid is usually where you've told (or trained) them not to be. I don't know about irrationally angry, but it sure pisses in my cheerios when this happens and Im carrying something.

I don't want to hurt the animal, and it's their fault for being under my feet. You do wrong, you get fussed at in the hopes that the behavior will change.

This is not a think for most sensible dog owners

Stop beating your dog a-hole.

My dog walked into the back of my leg just right & knocked my knee out of place
She deserved every bit of the cussing I gave her

That split second anger is just your initial reaction to knowing you hurt the dog and are mad that the situation happened. That lasts for a microscopic amount of time if you’re not a psychopath. It’s just a human reaction that normal people can control.

Same reason we get mad when our kids hurt themselves

I don’t do that but I do get irrationally angry when I let my dogs out and they shite 2 feet from the front door. Bitch, there are literally 10 acres for you to fertilize but you got to put a chocolate hot dog right next to the welcome mat?

I get really pissed when the dog steps on the back of my shoes. Feels like he's fricking with me most of the time.

I would give anything to be able to trip over my dog again.

I know my dog is always behind me, especially in the kitchen. Now cats……….I don’t mind stepping on a cat as they deserve a bit of squashing now and then. If house-cats were large enough, they would kill everyone. It’s in their eyes!
