Amazon Plans Clothing Store for Americana Mall in Glendale
Amazon Plans Clothing Store for Americana Mall in Glendale
quote:
Amazon says it plans to open a clothing store in a Southern California mall later this year, a first for the online behemoth and a fresh challenge for already struggling traditional retailers.
quote:
Shoppers will get personalized recommendations pushed to their phones as they browse the new Amazon Style store stocked mostly with non-Amazon fashion labels, the Seattle-based company said.
quote:
The store will be about 30,000 square feet, similar in size to a Kohl’s but about one-third the size of other department stores, such as Macy’s. But it will offer more than double the number of styles as traditional stores do because it will show one of each style on display while keeping the rest in the back room.
quote:
Upon entering the Amazon Style store, shoppers will see a curated set of items on display. By using the Amazon Shopping app, shoppers can scan an item’s QR code to see sizes, colors and overall customer ratings. Shoppers can add these items to fitting rooms or, if they don’t need to try something on, they can send it directly to the pickup counter. Prices will range from $10 to $400.
Amazon says its algorithms will spit out real-time recommendations as shoppers keep scanning items that they see. Shoppers can also fill out an online survey of their preferences for style and fit. When shoppers enter the fitting room, they will find the items they requested. Using a touchscreen in their fitting rooms, they can also request other items.

It’s just another example of people too dumb or lazy to do things for themselves.

Quality work by Amazon. Drive others out of business by undercutting them online, then swoop in and open brick and mortar stores in their former locations when mall/retail space is cheap.

Must be jealous of all the other retailers getting to use their insurance from all the shoplifting

Guess we can get the right size in the store. I wear a L or XL hoodies depending on the brand. If its made in China a wear a 5XL

I predicted this shite a while back. Amazon keeps putting mom and pop stores out of business. They put brick and mortar stores out of business. They will then buy and build brick and mortar stores (or steel) and turn them into distribution centers. At some point, they’ll just have shite available to purchase on site. We are coming full circle.

Let's not act like most of those other businesses didn't suffer from complete shite leadership and vision. Most of them had a jump on Amazon with infrastructure and online presence. They did frick all to use that advantage and just sat idly by and watched Amazon take over the retail world.

i don't like buying clothes online outside of a few brands. i hate dealing with shipping and sometimes stuff just doesn't look/feel/fit like it should

I am with you
Clothing companies constantly change the fit and texture of their products making it a crap shoot on what you are buying

One other unsaid bonus....
The hordes of "mostly peaceful shoplifters/smash and grab groups can't steal what's in the back room.
Smart....total controlled inventory, unless you plan on running out of the store with a mannequin.

Don Lapre had this idea decades ago, he was just too far ahead of the game.

All part of bezo’s grand plan.

Covid was perfect for Amazon. Small businesses put out of business, Amazon thrives.

Amazon already has a store in The Woodlands mall. It’s actually pretty cool. Has a lot of random gifts.

So it's Service Merchandise for clothes.
Walmart is building a Metaverse online store... and Amazon is building a brick and mortar store.
