Best examples of a "system" helping a program win more than it should have?

Who ya got? I'm talking about programs (any sport, any level) that objectively and consistently overachieved its talent level over a several year period due to a well-executed tactical or schematic advantage. I'll start with these:

TB Rays (2018-)
Wisconsin football (1993-)
Stanford football (2009-2018)

Wisconsin basketball under Bo Ryan too. Multiple 30 win seasons with little to no NBA talent

What's the Wisconsin system again? 5 Midwestern white dudes on the line with a power back?

Andy Reid's system makes Patrick Mahomes look way better than he really is. Remove Reid, Mahomes isn't paid 50mil.

For soccer fans, the answer is Brentford FC. They are a small neighborhood club in West London who have historically been in the 3rd or 4th tier of English football. Now they are a Premier League side and look to stay up this year if their form continues.

Brigham Young football since LaVell Edwards retired in 2000.

Play dirty as hell and sucker punch whenever you can.

Texas Tech under Leach.

Not saying they were ever world beaters but Leach managed to win with a whole bunch with no name QBs, Michael Crabtree, and undersized white receivers.

The Alabama Football Program from:

1- NCAA looking the other way at recruiting violations. Nothing done about DJ Fluker or Dodge Chargers

2- SEC “bridge schedules” and other happenings showing favoritism by the SEC office

3- SEC Officiating

4- The REC and by far the deepest, best funded and most well-coordinated network of bagmen in the sport.

5- espn serving as Alabama & Saban’s propaganda arm.

6- The ability of Nick Saban in finding ways to circumvent, abuse and misuse NCAA rules.

*** I am not talking about the “talent level” of the players on the field, but what the program has achieved in light of the resources available in comparison to other universities.

East German female swimming.

A cold landlocked country with a population of only 16 million people...yet dominating USA and Australia for decades.
