Questions for former football season ticket holders.

I have had season tickets for 26 years and I am strongly considering giving them up. I know everyone says this but it just isn't the same anymore. I still love going to the games but I find I am not as excited to go as I used to be. Sure that is partly that I am older but the tailgate and gameday experience isn't what it used to be either. More and more every year the cost just doesn't justify the experience outside of 2 maybe 3 games. For those who have given up your tickets did you regret it later?

We gave up our tickets in 2019 after 42 years. Even though it was in the best season ever, we still did not regret it. Mainly the same reasons you cited: game day experience, lack of parking, traffic, much more enjoyable watching on our TV. We still go to a couple of out of town games a year and enjoy those. Other than missing a chance for tickets to the natty, no regrets.

Sorry to say, no regrets.
I've had tickets my whole life (had kid tickets as a teen, then tickets on 35 x 25+ years). Its not just the cost. Now I've got weekends free again. Stub hub ain't cheap, but I can get as many tickets together as needed. (I'd rather spring for 2-3 games w/ multiple people than a whole season w 2) Easier to justify away games.
Finally, I went from not leaving until the last second, rain or shine; to leaving at half. Probably better to step aside and let more committed fans stay for the whole game.

Gave mine up in 2018 for same reasons as others have posted. Had mine since 95. Had family tickets before that.
For me to go to games, it’s a flight and hotel—but that was a fixed cost for me that I knew about going in.
What killed it for me was the entire experience just not being as enjoyable. Just became a complete (and expensive) beating.
ETA: zero regrets. In fact, I’m thrilled about it.

Gave up mine last year after 26 years. Didn’t miss the hassle. Went to a couple of games that made me think I made the right decision. I was tired of the culture of the program and told the athletic dept when they called trying to give me an extension to pay.
Im excited about the future, but now i know I can enjoy just as much watching at home or with friends.

No regrets at all. Gave mine up in 2020 after 25 great years. Game day experience wasn’t worth the hassle anymore. Crappy piped in music, horrible concessions and post game traffic are now in my past. It’s great having my weekends back. I do miss the big games but the horrendous non sec games are not worth my time anymore. I travel more now to away games and I would rather spend my time and money doing this. ![](https://images.tigerdroppings.com/Images/Icons/Icongeauxtigers.png)

Passing of the torch. Time for the younger generation to step up and be the next 25-year season ticket holder.
But they won’t. They’d rather bitch about no one going to games.

No regrets here. We're in Michigan but flew down for most home games. We gave ours up in 2020 but only because our grandson is now playing tackle football on Saturdays. Don't want to miss those games.
What's different, is we can jump back in whenever we want and besides keeping the seats that you have (and maybe some TAF points), there is literally zero advantage to holding on to tickets that you may not use as much for a few years.

No regrets.
Plus, I’ve always been able to find tickets to the game.
The big diff is if you are playing a #1 bama at home or your in the national title because those are expensive in the secondary market.
Playoff tickets were easy to get.

I have had my season tickets for 40 years. I drive 5 hours each way for home games. I am still in and will stay in. I have faith that things will turn around soon with CBK and that we will go back to normal pre-COVID life.
Geaux Tigers!

CFB is changing and it isn't going back. I still have 2 tickets but sold them last season. I have MBB and baseball season tickets as well. I prefer the baseball games now. I have a parking permit right next to the Box and can be in my seats from the parking lot in 5 minutes.
My 14 yr old son wants to keep going to football so I am probably going to keep as long as he wants to go. Once he is done I will give them up.

I had season tickets basically my whole life, gave them up, and felt tremendous relief. No regrets, I probably held onto them too long. It's just a natural function of age for many of us-it just becomes a bit much, particularly if your wife is a great cook, you have a Pimp tv and your couch is comfortable. You can always buy tickets if you get a game jones. The stadium needs that new blood, anyhow.

Family had 8 tickets for over 40 years. Many friends and family met at the RV for a day long party and get together. Some went to game on other tickets and others partied at RV for game.
It was very expensive and a great deal of work, but we felt it worth while. Then LSU put the show covid papers rule into effect and we gave up tickets, parking, and fund forever.
One friend of mine and his wife sat every game on acquired tickets. They often got free to $10 tickets to early hot games against no competition. They often paid face value sans fund-fee for SEC games. They occasionally paid multiple face value for the 1 or 2 Big Games. Considering face cost and fund fees for season tickets he paid about 40% of my tickets even including scalpers big game costs!
We now meet over a TV with most of the usual gang. Much easier and cheaper, good times are good times. But, some like above friend still go to BR so we no longer share game. However, after LSU stopped demanding my medical records, I went to the Florida game with them and sat for free. And LSU won!
Just met with all stakeholders of our old tickets for a family party, and I asked them if they regretted the F you LSU decision? We gave a 100% NO! I will sit in Tiger Stadium again. But it will be when I want and at a discount!
You must decide for yourself.
Edit: fixed some typos, but really want to find out what the butt hurt is for the down voters.

Gave up mine when kids came along but still manage to go to about 3 games a year (someone gives me tickets) and maybe one road game. Older now and found i can do a lot during day around my house, still watch game, and get to bed at decent hour.

Tickets in my family since 1958 and I finally got rid of them in 2013. Not a single regret. I’ve gone to every single game I’ve wanted to go to since then without the hassle of going to games I didn’t really want to go to but went anyway since I had season tickets.
I’ve never paid more than $100 for a ticket in BR or on the road and I’ve been to some big games home and away.

I had mine for about a decade and gave them up this year when they announced the vax/testing requirements and gave season ticket holders the option for a full refund. I would have given them up last year but rolled them over in lieu of them taking some of my money. A few reasons why: 1. the gameday experience isn't what it was. 2. the ryan clark shite bothers me. 3. I went to about 20% of the games as it was and gave the tickets away to friends/family/business associates.
If I go now its simply to bring my boys. And if that's the case we will get a game that works for our schedule and buy tickets for that game. Save a whole lot of money.

I'm on the other side of this equation. Been going to game for a while but just got season tickets in 2018. I might feel different if I had tickets for 26 years but for now I still want my meager little 2 tickets. Might end up giving them to my son in a few years, he graduated in December from LSU.
We got tickets in 2018 (upper chairbacks) because there were two games I wanted to attend, Georgia and Alabama) and figured that it would be almost as cheap to get season tickets as to buy tickets after the fact. My wife loved the experience so much that she decided it was worth the money to keep getting them (her reluctance to spend the money was the hold back for me the whole time
).
But I can see why anyone would be hesitant to continue. Concessions suck, traffic in and especially out is a mess, unless you have some established tailgating setup you probably don't get much out of that now and the weather can sometimes be less than pleasant.![](https://images.tigerdroppings.com/Images/Icons/Iconcheers.gif)

Mixed emotions, plus I rarely go home any more.
