Anyone struggle with sleeping during the work week?

2.5 weeks of Christmas break, I slept like a baby. At least 7 hours every night. Slept straight through with the occasional waking to use the bathroom or get some water.
But this week work started back, and I’m right back in insomnia mode.
It’s not an issue with falling asleep. I fell asleep last night around 9:45pm. It’s that I wake up too early. Woke up at 3:30am this morning.
Sometimes I’ll wake up at midnight wide awake and don’t fall back asleep. Usually it’s a 4am-ish wake up.
But I average around 5 hours of sleep during the week. Weekend hits? I’m back to sleeping well.
My job really isn’t stressful. I have no idea why this happens, but I’m a groggy irritable a-hole most days. I hide it really well.
Anyone else have this issue?

Have you tried melatonin?

Yes, I'm going through it now. My issue I think is back pain, but try a sleep aid like melatonin.

Nope.
Isn't 3:37 am everybody's wake up time?

Not if 10pm is bedtime.

Not drinking alcohol helped my issue of waking up at 2-3 in the morning. Dunno if you drink or not.

I don’t.
I’ve tried everything except melatonin, but I always heard that wasn’t a long term solution. Magnesium supplements helped for a while but no longer.

It isn't, but I may take one mg pill ever 6 months or so when I am worn down and not getting enough sleep. It is a good reset.

I have the same problem, and too many hours inside working seem to be the cause. It's gotten worse as I get older. Sunday I sleep like a log. On Thursday, I wake up way earlier than I would like. Sunshine. Vitamin D. Exercise (outside - walking or riding a bike - short sleeves) seem to make a difference. Try doing simple things outside to get 20+ minutes of sunshine / vitamin D. Taking vitamin D pills hasn't worked so well for me. Good luck -

I’m with you OP. I get a nice laugh when my alarm goes off at 6:15. I wish.

I’ve been dealing with similar issues this week. Took off of work last week and slept great. This week I guess I’ve been a little anxious about work because I’ve been staying awake an extra hour or two each night and start stirring around 3 am. I don’t drink and can’t do melatonin. I think it’s because I’ve been working late and only giving myself 2 hours between work & bed and I’ve been spending it on my phone catching up on personal texts/calls. Too much screen time and not enough time to wind down from the day is what I’m thinking. I also was way more physically active last week than this one so I’m sure that has some to do with it.

If you’re into this kind of thing, this tea has helped me in the past. Heard about it from a friend who had the same problem of waking up too early. I like it with a little honey and lemon.

Use melatonin or get your arse to the gym when you wake up early. Some of us have to force ourselves to get up that early. You have a gift.

I've always been an insomniac. 4-5 hours of sleep is about normal for me. Whether that's 3 a.m. to 7 a.m. or 10 p.m. to 3 a.m. varies from night to night. There's nothing I can do about it, it is what it is at this point.

The job may not be stressful, but perhaps subconsciously you are concerned about missing work by oversleeping.
As a previous poster just said, try at first melatonin.

Have sex every night. I call it Natures Ambien. It’s amazing how well it will make you sleep.

Only when I take too many Adderall. Lol
Seriously, I've taken Trazedone for years, puts me to sleep and don't wake up feeling out of it.
Still wake up couple times a night to pee.
