J we know why he didn’t interview Pelini.

Out of all the hires, he only didn’t interview one of them.

Pelini. Who happened to be an old friend of his boss. .

Come on this is obvious what happened here. Why would he need to interview Pelini when it was the guy his boss pushed for him to hire?? Maybe have been even more than a “push”.

Without Burrow Ed gets canned in 2018

Doubt it. O went 6-2 and 9-4 before that and ranked in the top 20 both seasons. Alleva wouldn't have the political capital to do that mid-season. Burrow, while solid, wasn't great in 2018. There was still a pretty good team there and IDK if Burrow made THAT big of a difference that year. He was mediocre against Auburn but we won. Great against TAM but we lost. Bad against UF which we lost.

He kept us in the TAM game and hands down won the bowl game but other than that idk.

He said at the high school coaches meeting that we had way too many analysts. I don't think he will replace all. Maybe some but not the same numbers.

I’ve been thinking this for a long time. Better yet not just trolling but fans of other schools setting up accounts posing as a LSU fan and posting really negative comments about our players, coaches, etc. I’m friends with a coach at Spanish Fort High here in Alabama. This coach told me an Alabama assistant coach noted the best place to send a recruit we both want is to this website particularly after a loss. Said it was one of the best negative recruiting tools Alabama has against us.

You are overlooking the elephant in the room. Recruiting. I said from the beginning when O was fired mid season that it was going to hurt us there. I agree that most of the problems at LSU the last two years were coaching and the staff lost the players, LSU should have waited until the season ended to mitigate that. Maybe CBK can recover. I hope so.

That’s such a crock of shite boom. Do we really think Scott pushed Bo on him following that season? That’s Ponamsky camp spin

O spent that whole offseason shitting on Dave and saying he’s getting back to the D he’s been wanting to run all along. Didn’t sound like a man that had a hire pushed on him. He hired Bo because of his familiarity with him and his D and bypassed the whole interview process

Also didnt interview canada

Also, interviewing Daronte and Peetz was probably more of a formality to appease his boss and the fans after the blowback from not interviewing candidates previously.

“Hey Dave, who do you recommend we hire for DC?
“Daronte Jones?, ok”.
Interviewed, hired.

“Hey Joe, who do you recommend we hire for OC?”
“Jake Peetz?, ok”
Interviewed, hired.

Imagine how much thought Aranda and Brady put into those recommendations when Ponamsky is calling them instead of Ed

Right it’s not like he had this stellar hiring resume and Bo was the outlier.

Brady was the outlier gut hire that worked

Brady was an Ensiminger "find" and evaluation.

So it was neither gut, nor was it lacking a form of an interview (Ensminger had conversations with him).

Yeah, O’s analysts after 2019 were pretty mediocre just milking a paycheck. I like what BK is doing in bringing in his people everywhere.

Are you saying it’s the same? The SEC Rant is a bunch of fans trolling other schools. That’s way different. You don’t see a lot of Bama/Auburn/whoever fans shitting in their own players. It might happen occasionally when someone does something really stupid, but it’s nowhere near as prevalent as it is on Tiger Rant.

Even when I look at the individual team boards every now and then, I don’t typically see those types of comments. Granted, there’s not a lot of precedent for the type of fall from the top that we have had recently but even in 2018 it was a lot of the same stuff.

Is this legit? That’s kind of surprising if so, and I don’t really know what to think about it. I’m not sure I understand the downside of having “too many” analysts as long as the administration is willing to give him the salary pool.

If they aren't providing any real value (think O hiring his kids) then why keep them? I think he meant that as cutting dead weight. There's such a thing as too many cooks in the kitchen especially if some are just standing around.

If they’re standing around, sure. At the same time I would think at a major college football program there’s always room for more work to be done. Between advanced scouting of opponents, self-scouting, recruiting evaluations (especially with the number of transfers, where they can actually get college game film on a lot of these guys) etc. it just seems to me like there’s enough to go around. Plus I didn’t think we had that many analysts (relative to other top tier programs) to begin with.

But as you said, they do need to actually be providing value. At the end of the day Brian Kelly knows more about how to run a football program than me so I guess he probably knows what’s he’s doing.

All those same analysts were there when we won the most outright NC ever....You guys are clueless to what is really going on inside the program. Woody wanted Jimbo and destroyed the program from the inside out to try to get him here. Ask your hero Joe Burrow, he will agree, ask any of the alumni in the program, he wanted everyone gone because they all witnessed what he did and they are all talking. If you think it will turn quick you are wrong. That product on the field for the bowl game with a #18 recruiting class and a few portal transfers is not gonna put us back in the top...We have at least two years of dark days if not more..Reality!

Again with O, he heard Saban had a lot of analysts, so O attempted to mimic it by going out and hiring a bunch of analysts too. But like most O/Derek productions they lack any real understanding of what they’re doing so the execution and implementation was lacking
