I assume this is all part of "The Great Resignation" I see mentioned all over LinkedIn pages and such? I haven't paid that close of attention, but this article mentioning such a high number of Americans quitting their current jobs caught my interest.

It's a combo of unemployment and covid related restrictions and possibly even a portion of those people looking to go into a pandemic resistant industry.
I bet most of these resignations are from CA/NY.

Commuting is definitely a factor. Hard to justify wasting 2-3 hours round trip just to get to a job you can do from home. Corporate boomers have yet to figure it out in the north east

Yep. That work from home phase is going to end up screwing corps in these cities. People can get slightly lower paying jobs and avoid the overpriced housing and commutes by working remotely.
There is more competition overall for the worker than ever before which is a good thing even though many will paint it on here as laziness and to be fair, some of it is.

Yep, and they are leaving the cities in droves to head to Northwest Arkansas and various other places like NWA

I don't know if this has anything to do with it but I do know during the pandemic people had to be creative to make money. I personally know a bunch of people who started their own business. Maybe people are starting to realize that you can make just as much, if not more money just as easy with your own business. I started an online business 2 months ago and I've cleared more in those 2 months than 6 months at my current job. I am able to do both because my current job is pretty laid back but if this trend continues I could see myself stepping away.

County forces us..puts on taxes..trash and recycling plus ability to get large items picked up. They then outsourced it. Just notified us they can’t make regular pickups due to Covid and staffing problems.

I think there are generally 4 groups of people quitting:
1) people who make more by sitting at home and getting government handouts (n/a for most white collar jobs)
2) people scared of Covid who are being forced back into offices by their employer and decided to quit
3) people who don’t want the vaccine as mandated by their employer and decided to quit
4) people who quit for greener pastures (different job or retirement)
Between those 4 groups, my company lost somewhere between 20-30% of its workforce, or about 12,000 people.
