I saw a pile of poor financial decision makers at the firework stand Friday night. Almost as if they were setting the little money they have on fire

Our credit limit is 11% of our annual income. I've never asked for a credit limit increase from the bank, but they've given me one a few times when I put a lot on the card temporarily. I've never paid a penny in interest. I really don't like credit cards or the dangers therein.

Damn, I don’t get people. It’s like some are either just dumb or lose drive to produce in life.

I know a couple that brags about their extravagant trips to Disney, Longhorn games, and San Antonio on Facebook. Then the next week, they are begging people for money for living expenses. This has happened more than a few times and it’s so embarrassing. They have no concept of a budget.

I don’t know how they could show their face after that. It seems some have no sense of embarrassment

I know. I’ve often wondered how many people are fooled and actually give to them because some do.

They live in a mother-in-laws suite given to them rent free by a sweet old lady. They have the gall to complain on Facebook that the house is too small. No joke, last year they asked all their FB friends if anyone had a house they were willing to give them for free.

Credit cards are great if you stay disciplined and pay it off every month. It’s free money.

We put almost everything we spend on a single card and it’s automatically set to pay to zero every two weeks. Haven’t carried a balance in fifteen years.

We use the points for vacation expenditures.

That's how we use our cards, but it's too easy to get more credit than you can handle for most.

My uncle. Stole about $400k from the family business (they let it go because family) and blew through about another $380k of BP spill money he got. Grandparents gave him $150k of his inheritance to keep him afloat. He was basically given a job with set daily pay where he just had to show up on time and he could easily make $5k a month, but couldn’t seemingly do that. Got fired. Continued buying lifted F250s (he towed nothing with) every 3 years and the most recent one got repossessed 2 weeks ago. Lives with grandma now trying to mooch more $$$

"No way I would ever buy new drivers anything other than a beater. Just makes good sense to me.
I bought all 3 of my kids "beaters" for their first car and I'll be darned if all three didn't get totaled. 2 of them were the other guys fault and my youngest daughter caused hers. I also wouldn't get a kid anything but a beater. The reason my bride and I don't owe anybody anything is that we get the good out of a vehicle before we replace it and we live in a house that I built for less than $15 a sq. ft. in 1978. We have relatives and one kid that apparently never understood arithmetic. I took Ben Franklin at his word "a small leak will sink a great ship". Spending 105% of your income will put you in bankruptcy, spending 95% will put you in prosperity. It is that simple.

Her salary was about 180,000 per year so she qualified for credit cards. Whatever the kids whined for they got including a lot of takeout foods and expensive snacks. Her husband was a stay at home dad. Eventually that all fell apart, shockingly.

Plenty of 30k millionaires loading up credit cards and paying $1300 a month on vehicles.

My cousin was just telling me about his buddy that has a $1300 monthly truck payment talking like it was normal.

Ex wife makes around 55k per year. Got approved for 330k in lending for a house when we were separating. Purchased a house for 329k.

No spousal support. Child support is very minimal due to split custody.

She’s 40 years old and has never had any savings. She borrowed from her retirement account to pay for her divorce lawyer.

To say that I am thankful to get rid of her would be an underestimate.

I am looking forward to watching the struggle bus pick her up around Summer time this year.

I could tell a story that'd blow y'alls mind. I know of two families that make $25k a month and lives pay check to pay check. Both over $500k in debt with no savings or retirement.
This is insane.

How, just how? I could live like a king on that and still save the majority of it.

A nice car is the easiest way to trick yourself and others that you’ve “made it”. I couldn’t care less. I know I’m not wealthy. My ford has 186k miles.

I don't know what it is, but that's the first thing people get anytime they start their first full time job or come across some money. "the first thing imma do is buy me a new car".

A vehicle is used for one thing. To get you from point A to point B. People can buy reliable vehicles for a lot cheaper than they do.
