I know a married couple, one makes sandwiches at a BBQ joint and his wife works at a bakery. They love to churn SUV's (Ones that are 80-100k)

Every 3-4 months there's a new post about thanking the car sales professional.

Earlier this year they posted how nice some friends were for brining them canned goods because they didn't have jobs at the time.

I can only imagine the debt they are in.

My dad. It’s like he didn’t consider bills to be obligations. I’m pretty sure that’s called narcissism…

idk if it's a cultural thing or what but it seems like everyone in south Louisiana must drive a nice, newer vehicle. lawyers, teachers, cops, laborers, young "sales reps" who don't make any money... everyone

South LA (esp Lafayette through the NS/Orleans) has a big philosophy of segregation and this bleeds into outward projection.

Can't have someone thinking your kids go to public school so you need to flex a car that's under 3 years old, sir.

High Country trim appears to be more than that.

Sending them to private school is less expensive than the car. Just do that.

That is why so many kids go to private school, no?

It is narcissism, but in a lot ways we as a society allow it.

So as long as you can live with and be at peace with the anxiety, who is better off overall in life, people like your dad or people who actually live poor and within their means?

Use debt, drive nice cars go on nice trips, buy shite…at worse you go bankrupt and just roll it all over again. What is the real “punishment” in living this way?

My uncle. Once bought a Tesla from a Nigerian for 20K thinking it was a hell of a deal. I guess it was since the vehicle is invisible because I’ve never seen it.

This is why I do not feel bad for people and hate our government. Our government education system failed to teach them basic finance then turns around and says everyone has to pay for them. These same people turn around and procreate at a higher rate than smart people and overwhelm everything.

There’s quite honestly a lot of immaturity down here.
A nice car is the easiest way to trick yourself and others that you’ve “made it”. I couldn’t care less. I know I’m not wealthy. My ford has 186k miles.

Bought a 2022 we had built for 63K. It had about 90% of the bells in whistles including the extra for the pearl tri coat paint job and a moon roof.

It is true you could spend 80K on one. I just dont see the added value vs cost. The black wheel things are pretty cool though. We have the 20" aluminum wheels.
