Opening drive was good...he adjusted to try and hide line disadvantage. Made more adjustments at halftime and had a good drive. Oline could not compete with Bamas strengtg ot quickness

He is much better than the unqualified Orgeron and Peetz.

Cincy's O-line simply got their arse whipped, and the talent disparity mattered. We should know as well as anybody that it's hard to get into any rhythm on offense when you can't run, and the QB has no time.

Yep. It was ugly but they actually had a couple of opportunities to score and just didn't make the plays.

He helped get them there, which is pretty huge. I’ve never judged a team by the way they play Bama.

This game had no effect on my opinion of him. There was a thread a couple days ago suggesting yesterday’s melt would be epic. Several of us warned you guys not to let it sway your opinion. What happened yesterday was somewhat predictable.

A program like Cincinnati can attract a few top-notch players here and there. But Alabama has top-notch players EVERYWHERE. And when they rotate out, the fresh guys coming in are just as good. The talent gap is very difficult to overcome, but possible. But when you give a great coach like Nick Saban several weeks to prepare, he will find your weakness and exploit it.

There’s very little you can take away from that game in terms of how good those Cindy coaches unless you focus on two things. The first is that they simply made it to that stage. I have a friend who is only a casual college football fan ask me “Who did Bama beat.” When I told him it was Cincinnati, his response was “CINCINNATI? Who the heck is Cincinnati?” They are not even on most people’s radar. So for them to make it to the CFP is a big deal and a testament to great coaching.

The other thing I’d look at is their scripted plays. We’re they able to scheme their way into mismatches? They were. They drove down the field with relative ease. Nick Saban calls a timeout, makes an adjustment, and is able to hold them to a FG. That’s what Nick Saban does. But the Bearcat coaches were able to have success in small spurts.

Their downfall was their OL. On the second series, Beas DL began to Tee-off on the lesser talented Cindy OL, and ultimately rattle their QB. Later in the game, when Cindy had WRs open, he was so rattled, he had a hard time getting the ball to them. Again, that’s what Bama does. That is where talent level comes makes a difference. That is why CBK has been working diligently to fix our OL issues. But understand this, you won’t completely fix it in one recruiting class. I expect us to get better, especially with the addition of veteran OL transfers. But it will take another year or two to completely overhaul it.

I don’t think some understand that when your oline gets dominated it doesn’t what you call.

How do you feel about him as OC at this point?

Brennan and Boutte were probably the two biggest guys we needed for 2022 and they’re obviously sold on what CBK wants to do on offense, not to mention Miles Frazier who immediately shows OL will be a priority and strength again, finally.

I can see the lack of enthusiasm for a hire like Denbrock as opposed to the excitement generated by the hires on defense, but I’m firmly in the trust CBK camp and believe he’ll be quick to move on if Denbrock can’t provide the support for the offense that will mostly be Kelly’s baby anyway.

And having a dedicated QB coach in Sloan is important imo, not to mention the North LA recruiting boost he brings.

Bottom line is that this is a grown up staff, assembled and run by a professional. Exactly what this program needs right now.

So, I’ll start 2022 in the same mindset that 2021 ended.....

No worries. Just an FYI, though, you can change your vote on this forum simply by refreshing the page and clicking the opposite vote button. It happens to me sometimes too when on my phone.

I'll complain when they aren't finding ways to get the ball Boutte, BTJ and Bech, but until then, I've got better things to do.

Denbrock has top rated offenses and has a 38.8 points average this season.
He ovousley did not have the talent to score and beat Bama.
I believe from his resume that he is a Top 10 OC.

His starting QB may be a first round pick after having only receiving one Division I offer (Cincinnati).

He did a good job there, but I was unimpressed by them having the same problem as Peetz yesterday with not getting the play in on time twice in the 2nd half of a playoff game (and having to blow timeouts). That was very poor.

I like the variety of plays I saw.
Remember, you need to complement the X & O's with the Ja'Marr & Joe's!
I'm optimistic about the future of LSU Football!

He's not old and he is not young.
He has worked with CBK for many years.
Has coached at all levels and seems well considered.
Had the 10th scoring offense at cincy this year.

Seems to be a seamless solid safe pick.
