Except after this year #7 won't be on the field for Lca.
Kid is a rare talent and what he has done for them won't be duplicated for them. Not saying they won't be good but they won't be what the are this year!

[quote]So the Catholic kids (outside the district, but inside the diocese) are ALL ELIGIBLE
This is 100% not true!! i coach at a catholic school in lafayette and this is not the case at ALL as we have kids from several catholic school who have been Ineligible due to the Schools they attended that were not direct feeders or with in our zone.

Every Catholic School in the state has feeder schools. If you are the only catholic school in the city then all catholic schools will feed to that Catholic high school.
However if there is more than one the the middle schools will be split and feed to a specific one which will be considered Direct feeder schools. the rule was if you came from one of those you would be eligible, if you were not from a direct you would be ineligible. Not all 12 feed directly to Catholic some feed directly to st michaels as well. It is actually no different than the public middle schools who feed to public high schools, they all have direct feeders as well. You cannot put blame on the catholic schools just because they have opened more schools than the baptists. Unfortunetly the people who want to send their kids to a certain private high school need to move within zone are send their kid to that schools feeder school

I attended two LCA games out of interest this season. There is no way the average LCA family could support a tuition or donation level that would allow for some students to have "waivers". It has to be coming from their church
Lca keeps their tuition at the ace scholarship level. But it is does seem they are in involved in alot of recruitment as far as finding houses in there area to get kids eligible, plus they pastor is not welcome at several Lafayette school unless it’s and official game

I can’t speak to stm,
But I do know Teurlings offers the ace scholarship program just like Lca but you as a parent must make up the difference at Teurlings.
Teurlings also has a work study that gets you like 750$-1000$ off the tuition. But you cannot be on both
Stm does offer the same ace scholarships but I don’t know what they do with the rest of the balance or if they have other programs. They may be the Sam as tch I am just not 100% sure what they do with the balance

I Lca keeps there tuition at the La ace scholarship level so they have no out of pocket expenses, plus not to mention rumored other shady dealings, as for Teurlings and stm they have to answer to the the diocese about certain fees and tuition so they can’t compete with what Lca offers. But Lca does lack in education compared to those 2 schools

No it’s because of the records of there non district opponents.
Stm has Comeaux who is winless and a few other teams that will most likely finish at best 5-5 maybe 6-4. As for tch they opponents worst record will be 5-5 will all others having 7-9 wins in there out of district schedule

He is very good! Last season they were mostly sophomores and juniors. Kantrell Prejean is the real deal as well. Plus a lot of kids with experience from last season.

Probably because a 100% healthy Thomas is better than a 65-75% healthy bech.

For the folks who want reunification, i am honestly curious.... What are your thoughts on IMG academy? Should they be playing in the florida high school playoffs? in a district? Because that is a similar advantage that privates have here. I hate the everyone gets a trophy/playoffs mentality, but there has to be some competitive balance.
I dont know the solution, but would like to hear some thoughts on that
First of all Img gets kids from all around the country
. And just so you know not all private schools recruit!
But for every private school you claim does there are just as many public schools that Do.
In the area i coach in its well know what LCA does and What acadiana does as well.
Nola is a free for all for public and private.
Public schools that are know to recruit as well and they are the same teams always in the superdome or semi-finals yearly so please stop acting like its just private schools.

This goes beyond coaching…he is a legend here in BR. He has superbowl experience. Aight aight lets see what trash brian kelly hires does for LSU
So Frank Wilson is trash? Best recruiter.. check.. one of the best rb coaches... check
i think he will do fine.
And just because your are a legend doesn't mean you are a good coach. Love KF but lets be real if he wasn't a Lsu Legend he wouldn't have gotten hired for his football coaching resume! his offenses at the cro were not very good.

Now do John Curtis and Evangel. Obviously none of the schools you listed had anything to do with the split, so lets have a real honest conversation about it instead of throwing out red herrings. Would you answer the question about IMG? Would you be ok with them showing up in your district and playoff race every year? With 5 star players from across the country?
Don't think evangel should be mentioned anymore. They are a shell of what they used to be. Not very good anymore.

Im confused. If 39 people voted in 2020 why did it not happen then? Was that vote for all classes or no classes to reunify?
Because Votes before have always been put up to bring all classes together. so the entire Lhsaa votes but now This proposal is just on the 5a agenda so only 5a schools can vote.
The problem has always been that the majority of 3a and below schools support the split (even class b and c get to vote on football which is silly) So 5a and 4a who have always been slightly against the split always lose. So the many principles believe that this will pass as it was discussed at district meeting and then in 2024 you will see 4a do the same.

Because they see Catholic/UHigh grab all the premier athletes in the entire BR metro region while they are limited to kids who live in their relatively smaller zipcodes
They also know each school finds "ways" to help with tuition which is a violation of current LHSAA bylaws
It isn't the non-select schools' fault for the debacle that is LHSAA football.
The non-selects originally proposed 6 division. 4 non-select and 2 select. That would have kept every division competitive.
The non-selects went bananas and demanded the same number of divs despite not having enough schools. It was their attempt to poison the split from happening. Non-selects called their bluff and voted in favor of the split anyway.
You Do relize why the selects went with 4 divisions don't you. Unlike the public schools think not every private school is out their buying athletes. You could not expect the schools with 200 kids to compete with the ones that have 800-900 kids. Majority of private schools are small.

Ok just spoke with our Ad and principal to get clarification and 5a coming together has been agreed on at some 5a district meetings back in November/December and 5a principals say it will pass. however the official vote will take place at the convention at the end of the month. So maybe some can change there mind? Sorry for my confusion you were right has to be officially voted on at convention. Now they heard that it wasn’t a close vote and a bunch of schools would have to change there mind. While possible our principal didn’t think it was likely.
However apparently there is another proposal that will be voted on first that will allow select schools to choose to play in non select playoffs which would make the 5a vote non existent or not needed. As you can tell this Lhsaa meeting is still truly a meeting of geniuses
If they principles hold there ground 5a will be together
