Those movies were incredible for how many brief but very striking scenes or moments there were.

For example when the gang was trying to traverse the mountains and Saruman was standing atop his tower shouting down the mountain and avalanche on them, was very intriguing to me even though just a few seconds.

Will be doing a rewatch. My best friend and I rewatched Two Towers or Fellowship nearly every week for a year or two in high school. Just adds another layer to the nostalgia of watching the movies.

Honestly, go with Blu Ray. 4K is so high definition that it makes everything (Gollum in particular) look fake.

Ehh. It doesn’t bother me. The more practical effects, overall cinematography and Atmos mix make it worth it to me.

I can’t believe, that on the 19th, it’ll be 20 years since The Fellowship of the Ring hit theaters.

I remember going into it blind not knowing it was a trilogy. When it ended I looked at my brother in law and asked "what the frick was that?"

LOTR weekend for sure. (Love the Viggo toe break reference above )

Saw Fellowship of the Ring at the midnight premier. Truely a memorable experience, as I hadn't done a midnight movie in ages, and it was a really interesting cross section of older (even than me) Tolkien fans as well as HS, college kids. A few even dressed up, (young girls in she elf costumes - nice)

The ending was classic, straight out of the book. But even though everyone KNEW this was part 1 of a trilogy, and we'd been sitting there for over 2 1/2 hours, one girl actually said, ' no way!' as the credits rolled and she realized it was the end of the movie.

Always leave them wanting more.

Anyone other than me have a soft spot for Boromir? He's so... human. Carries the weight of bearing the burden of what he knows but refuses to accept is a dieing empire. He wants desperately to do anything to save it at whatever the personal cost. He's deeply flawed, but when the final test comes proves that he is not just a warrior, but a man of deep honor.

I used to like Two Towers best and RoTK sedond best. But Fellowship is by far my favorite film now...

In fact, I used to hate the Khazad-Dum sequence, but now, the middle of Fellowship is by far my favorite sequence in any of the films as I learn more and more about Tolkein lore.

Now, actually knowing what the Balrog really is and why everyone is so terrified and why Gandalf besting him is so incredible, I enjoy it so much more.

Same, the last 40 mins is just a masterpiece. Boromirs encounter with Frodo, the battle, Aragorn going 1 on 100 for a few minutes, Legolas shooting an arrow per second, Boromirs valiant stand, his death scene with Aragorn, Gandalfs reminder to Frodo, the strings that kick in when Frodo grabs Sam from the water, “Let’s hunt some orc”

Just a masterpiece

On to Two Towers…

I own all of the extended editions on DVD.

As soon as we get a cold rainy day that I have off work, I'll brew a full pot of coffee in the morning, settle in, and binge the whole damn thing.

I did this last year and it was epic.

I was also around your age. I was 12 i think. I new nothing about the movie or the books going into the theaters. My mom who read the books gave me a run down before it started. Loved it. I too was excited when i found it it was a trilogy. Looked forward to the next two every year around Christmas.
