HBO needs to get their stuff together

I'm enjoying HBO Max but when I think about all the shows I watched on HBO as a kid, there are so many that aren't playing.
1. Encyclopedia Brown - I'm probably the only one that would like to watch these again, but they were some of my favorite books. And Sally was my first movie "star" crush. I'd love for my 8 and 10 year olds to watch.
2. Not Necessarily the News - I understand it's outdated and the political jokes may not hit as hard. But even as an 11-12 year old, I found it funny. Would love to see if it still holds any humor.
3. Fraggle Rock - I know it's not owned by HBO and it's not one that I'm particularly interested in seeing now, but the point remains.
4. The Hitchhiker - It was before my time while on HBO but it sounds like a show I'd like to catch one day.
5. 1st and 10 - OJ ruined any chance of this being played again, but a football comedy with prime Delta Burke and Shannon Tweed is golden.
6. Dream On - As a pre-teen boy in the early 90s, this was one of the greatest shows on television. Any of you that have seen this show knows why. I'm sure there are some licensing issues with the old movie clips, but that's no excuse.
7. Tales From the Crypt - Speaking of licensing issues, it's a travesty this isn't being played on any streaming services. Just add a dollar to the monthly subscription and buy it outright. You can catch some of the episodes on YouTube but the quality varies from episode to episode. Just get it done HBO!

I can see where some find those nostalgic I wouldn't pay an extra penny for any or all of them. I might see it differently if I had young kids and wanted to watch them together.

One thing I did like they did for the holidays and wish the other streamers would put a section for all of their sitcom Christmas specials

While they're at it, they need to retool their user interface. It sucks compared to its competitors.

yes indeed that list is strong for back then, but the best run for me was from like 1999-2007.
besides Succession, i just wish they had quality shows from at least 10 years ago that were not so woke and in your face about issues that I couldn't just sit back and enjoy them. But for me the best was from like '99-07
If there are some besides Succession or Curb making new episodes please let know.
Imagine sitting back and watching shows in the same week like Carnivale, Six Feet Under, Oz, Deadwood, Sopranos, and the Wire...all playing between 1999 and 2007.
for example in 2004 i think all of those shows exact maybe Oz were playing the same week...i mean my goodness
I was so happy to have HBO then. Even after with Boardwalk Empire, Game of Thrones, Big Love and multiple others.
they just do not have more than one show playing anymore that captures what they once were
**edit i love Barry but haven't seen it come out in a while

HBO just aired Dune and has Succession, Curb, His Dark Materials, Mare Of Eastown, Barry, Game Of Thrones just ended. Plus they still have good movies unlike Netflix. It's the best streaming service. The others need to get their act together.

Barry, Ballers, The Flight Attendant, and the Outsider aren’t woke. I don’t think you’re looking that hard for a show on HBO lol.

i don't thing they are talking movies like Dune and Mare of Eastown was just a miniseries i think...i also mentioned that later years had game of thrones. My point was years like 99-2007 especially 2004 was beyond quality

the thing with HBO is you are paying to watch a couple episodes of a couple shows a week. other than that it's all old stuff to fill the void.
Netflix has new shows every week with all the episodes. it doesnt own nostalgic things (for us) but will for those growing up on it. not all Netflix shows are equal to an HBO show, but they are pumping out high quality and filler quality out. and their actual interface doesnt make me want to throw my remote.

HBO Max and Disney+ have the worst UI in all of streaming.
I do watch a ton of HBO Max and have AT&T so not having to pay for all the content is really nice. 8-Bit Christmas, Succession, and Curb were all fantastic.

I distinctly remember a skit where the reporters interviewed the most discriminated person in the world, who was the head of an organization she called "Jungle B*nny Bimbo F*ggot."
There would be some sky-screaming over that if ran today, and it's not hard to imagine there'd also be complaints that the imaginary organization wasn't inclusive enough for the "overweight disabled geriatric muslim" black lesbian.

Right now I'll settle for them just getting their app to remain stable. That POS constantly freezes during movies and/or straight crashes on me regardless of what I use to run it. It's also a chore to navigate. Why the frick can't I hit the right or left buttons on my controllers to scroll past multiple movies/shows? Going down a long arse list one at a time is awful. The fact that the old mediocre HBOGO app ran better than the current one is flat out joke.

It's bad but I actually think AMC+ has the worst interface of them all. It's needlessly complicated w/the way it breaks everything up, the thumbnails are WAY too big making it to where you only really see 2-4 shows/movies at a time, for some strange reason the thumbnails aren't a uniform size on every scroll line, it's search feature is weak, the tiny text in the descriptions is hard to read even on big arse TVs, and it's slow AF.
It kind of feels like it was built for tablets first and then just tossed onto everything else w/zero optimization.

HBO is king and very much excels at dark and gritty. Especially fairy tales or fantasy as those are on the edge and more rare. Their are plenty more fantasy stories in the vain as game of thrones and not intended as Tolkienism classic good and evil.

This is why I dropped them the first time. Figured they just didn't have a lot of stuff I wanted to watch. But, as I looked for certain shows/movies I realized they carried it and eventually went back. Still couldn't find the shows/movies without the search feature. Don't recall running into these issues w Disney, Netflix, Hulu... as much as I do with HBO
