All you that hate NIL, transfers, etc. how do you not see the hypocrisy you're displaying?

How do you not see the hypocrisy in stating that people transferring out are quitters, yet we're psyched about our basketball team whose best player (Eason) and is a transfer (I'm sure Cincy thinks he's a quitter). It's the new reality - quit with the "Get off my lawn, it'll ruin football takes"
Let the free market reign and support the school. You can't call Notre Dame fans butthurt about Brian Kelly leaving before the bowl game with a chance at the CFP and then criticize our players who decide it's in their best interest to leave the program.
Happy trails to those that do, but move on and leave your whiny butthurtedness behind.

So what are the players buyout costs??? Because coaches have consequences for leaving before the end of their commitment. What's the players consequence? It used to be sitting a year

People who don’t support NIL, the transfer portal, etc. are not real capitalists. They think every team should get equal amounts of talent regardless of how much money they have. Sounds a whole lot like marxism to me!!

1. Players only get a 1 time transfer w/o having to sit out.
2. Coaches usually don't pay that - their new employer does.

Can't blame the kids, but you have to admit the NIL will ruin college football without strict regulations. (example: Travis Hunter to Prime Time from Florida State his dream school. No hypocrisy here, I just hate to see the college game become the minor league for the NFL.

Considering some of these coaching contracts are more than what most NFL players make over the course of their career I don't mind them dealing with more consequences than college kids. And let's be honest, the coaches rarely face these consequences.

There's a big difference in some players transferring & others quitting.
Eason gets an opportunity to go play for a better program? Not a quitter. Joe Burrow graduates from Ohio St, competes for the job, & doesn't get to play? Not a quitter. Myles Brennan? Not a quitter
Quinn Ewers or Max Johnson? Quitters

For me, I used to say "oh good we have him for another year and we should be solid at that position".
Not anymore. You can't depend on any of these kids. Imagine being the coach and having to deal with this. It effects recruiting and the entire roster. Hate it for the kids who are loyal. It will also effect the game in the future from attendance, sales of merchandise etc. They should have come up with a way to pay the kids equally and focused more on educating them in my opinion. This is only going to get worst if they don't put a cap on what a player can earn. Similar to the NFL cap. Also with the transfer portal, they should have to sit out a year. This is BS. Coaches now have a difficult time managing a roster position by position.

So you won’t be rooting for Brian Kelly either because he’s a quitter right? Just trying to keep tabs on the rationale. But sounds like the rationale is if it’s good for LSU, not a quitter … if it hurts LSU, quitter?
Also, should we not root for Tari Eason in basketball because he’s a “quitter” too?

It was ruined when they started paying coaches more in college than the NFL and having 9 figure TV contracts. You can't get to that sort of money and not let the players partake. NIL didn't ruin college sports its just a symptom of the mega cash grab that it has become.

It has long been the "minor league" for the NFL. The only difference is the payments are now "legal".
And why are we freaking out about ONE guy going to JSU? Look at the rest of the 5 star players. The same usual suspects are all there as their destinations. Alabama, Ohio St, Georgia, A&M, LSU, Texas, etc.
Just like in college basketball, the schools that care more are going to be the ones that "invest" more. Thus, most of the top talent still ends up at Alabama, Ohio St, Georgia, A&M, LSU, Texas, etc...just as it was before NIL

This is bullshite. There is nothing anti-capitalism about a private organization, the NCAA, having rules that promote parity.
Anyone who equates anything to do with the NCAA and college athletics as "the free market" is a moron not worthy of debate.

I think a level playing field is much better for the product. The closer we get to determining success based on how much money there is to spend the less I enjoy the product.
This was very clear to me before this all began. My opinions have only become stronger as reality has set in.
To each their own though. If you like what you are seeing, more power to you.

Setting an artificial wage ceiling is a marxist concept.
True capitalism is like the MLB or english premier league where the player goes to the highest bidder.

I said in the same post that Tari Eason is not a quitter. That was an upgrade for him. Same goes for Brian Kelly. Some could try to argue this, but LSU was an upgrade for him from ND. He put in 11 yrs with that program, so it's hard to say he quit on them. That's probably reserved for other coaches like Kiffin.

Its stupid. Get a minor league football league for this nonsense and keep college football as amateurs.
Its ruining the traditions and loyalty that made college football better than pro. Now it'll all be the same.

The coaches are contractually obligated to pay it. You are drawing a distinction with no difference.

Coaches have to think twice about yelling at the players. That is stupid...
