No fans??. Man as a Southernite I hate Jackson State but the fact is they consistently put 55K in Veteran’s Memorial in Jackson. And they have one of the better traveling fan bases among HBCU’s. And JSU played several TV games. You don’t know what you’re talking about there.

Facilities are an issue for most sub P5 schools so no argument there. But they have facilities. They have nutrition programs. Southern will likely have the best facilities among HBCUs OR any FCS level program once this $800 million renovation is complete.

The purpose of HBCUs is antiquated. Last I checked black players have been able to go to all universities since the early 1970s, so they should have all been shut down then.

How can we speed this up ? It might lead to all white teams , :& all black teams, just like back in the 50's . The only difference is NIL. You know what they say. A change might do you well.

It didn’t ruin Rice, Sweetness, McNair, or Strahan. I love the fact that these kids are trying to be positive influences on the black community. They are taking initiative by putting their community into their own hands instead of blaming white people for everything.
. It’s funny that you think any of them players were highly recruited. They ended up in D 1-AA because D-1 didn’t offer any of them.

HBCU's have a bigger purpose than football

I don't have a problem with it. Just think that it won't take long to realize that their draft stock takes a big hit. Just because you are a top recruit out of high school does not guarantee your NFL draft stock. That athlete can be seen as a draft risk due to competition level. Where if they go to power 5 and dominate and have same results then they are first round. Let a few miss out on millions due to draft stock and it will change.

any talented athlete who has the opportunity to go to a P5 school that goes to an HBCU will be seen as ducking competition.

Any that go will transfer out after year 1. Unless they're big fans of subpar facilities and long bus rides.

IMO it’s the best thing for college football. College football over the last 5-10 years has turned for the worse. No loyalty to the school, players over the program, ect.

Let the HBCU’s be the Harlem globetrotters of college football. Let the elite talent go to school there. Let’s get back to major college football being all about the school, tradition, and education.

Some of this isn't just about NIL money. It's also connected to the BLM boycott of majority white institutions/corporations. These recruits are being sold this as a way to better the black community and stop enriching majority white universities and the "white" corporations that market and sell their gear.

I didn't say it was. I was making an observation based on the boycott stuff and what was said by black leaders about black athletes attending HBCUs after the 2020 stuff.

you have to give Deion credit. He has almost single handedly pumped more life in one year for HBC's football than what's gone on since Steve McNair's SR year.

Since when? It's an institution that allows for lower-income minorities to have a better chance at earning a degree.

Hard to believe less than a handful of top football players signing with one is going to break those benefits.

Have you seen their facilities? Quality of nutrition? Quality of coaches? Choosing to disadvantage yourself in these areas isn’t a very intelligent move.

I’m willing to bet you couldn’t point out where 2 hbc’s on a map outside of Baton Rouge let alone know anything about their facilities.
