IMO:

1. Decision making.

2. Reading defenses.

3. Patience. It's okay to take what the defense give you especially on early downs.

The good news for Nuss is, he has all the physical tools, he has natural accuracy and appears to have the processing speed. All his areas of improvement seem to be in areas were he will get better with practice and experience.

What does tRant CFB QB experts say?

Need to take checkdowns. Every pass doesn’t need to be a 30 yard completion.

Stop heaving it 60 yards downfield hoping some catches it.

He needs to realize that slinging it down field every play isnt gonna win games. I get he’s a gun slinger but he’s gotta take the check downs and underneath stuff to set up his deep shiz.

Just needs to take what the defense gives him instead of forcing the big play. That's just maturity and experience.

Kid clearly has a ton of talent and a bit of that "it" factor.

This is the correct answer along with patience. In high school, he got flushed out of the pocket frequently. Therefore, he did a lot of improvisation and his receivers were very good and adjusted accordingly (Marcel Brooks and another receiver that signed with California and LSU offered).

Now, he has to be more reliant and trust his OL , which he obviously doesn’t.

He needs to improve his internal clock and his calmness (game slowing down) which will only come with experience and reps.

It’s clear he has a lot of really good tools. He just needs to hit the weights and focus on becoming the best QB he can.

Patience. Take what the defense gives you. A check down 4 yard completion is better than a low percentage 25 yard incompletion into traffic

Have an OC that devises play to his strengths. Every QB should not be forced into being a straight drop back passes ALL THE TIME. Utilize his creativity, speed, elusiveness. IF the Ravens only used their QB as a straight drop back passer, they would rarely win a game, but because they utilize his skill set, they have a very dangerous offense. LSU needs an OC that does the same.
