It seems that teams who fire their coaches are now in a rush to have an entire coaching staff set in stone before the season is even over. I think the old way was better. Recruits could see how each team did and schools were able to get their new coaching staff in place.

And its not just the schools who fire their coaches. Its also schools whose coaches leave to take another job. Look at OU. They just now hired a new coach. When one school poaches another school’s coach, then that school has to find some other schools coach. It really complicates things.

Have one early singing day in August. If the coach you sign with is fired you can be released by February. Otherwise you wait until February to sign

It should be pushed back until after the bowl games.

Yea it’s awful. Really puts AD’s and universities in a bad situation and pressure cooker, and it puts the new coaches in an awful situation in terms of scrambling to sign guys. It rewards stable programs and hurts the unstable ones

Recruits attempting to enroll early are in favor of it. Programs and fans, not so much, but it’s for the kids who want to be in school for Jan semester and the ones who are ready to shut recruiting down.

Yes.move it up to Aug 1. Run it for a few days. Then have your 2nd signing period in February.

It was initially welcomed so that you could sign a class before the coach and/or assistants got fired after a bowl game.

It also was thought to have helped get a guy signed before he changed his mind & another team flips him on NSD when you can't fill the spot.

But now with the transfer portal, the prospect is never locked up for a day, much less 3 to 4 years. So, it's basically worthless.

I’m fine with having an early signing day but the current timing is terrible. Either do it pre-season or just go back to the february signing day

I’ll also say this. Signing day was a lot more fun before the early signing period came around

Yes it needs to go back to February. The transfer portal has changed the dynamics so much. Leave December for bowls and coaching changes and let’s have our old February signing day back. Now we have nothing really to look forward to in February.

Why even have a signing day when a kid can transfer whenever they want to and where they want. Let’s go all out. Give them 2 options:

1) take the scholarship and everything that goes with it. A traditional package but they’re bound to that school until either graduation or pro.

2) let them be independent contractors. They can get unlimited NIL deals, leave when they want, go where they want but they have to pay their own way and everything that is offered. A monetary value will be put on strength/conditioning, meal plans, doctors, rehab and etc.

Everything about the college game is being ruined overnight with the transfer rule and NIL deals. There is no such thing as a commitment. Hell why not just let Wisconsin develop our Olinemen and we give their best ones NIL deals once we see how they develop? Why even recruit anymore? Save the money from recruiting and focus it all on
NIL deals.

It’s good, just needs to get modified to maybe add a cap of 10 early commits.

This. It was an event when it was just one day in January. The Bayou Bash was great too. Getting to take off on a random Wednesday to hang out with friends, drink beer, and eat jambalaya.

I like it. Gets the drama out of the way early. I don't know why anyone should be concerned about unstable programs. That's on them.

Recruits don’t need to sign LOI to enroll early
