I've been hearing the narrative "No one wants to work with BK, he's a terrible person". But if I were the DC at Notre Dame and got offered the head coaching job, I wouldn't leave either. Coaches are people too, it's hard for them to just leave everything they know for somewhere they're unfamiliar with. So it's no indictment on BK if none of his Notre Dame staff follow him.

But the deep south though! They openly disrespect Louisiana as a usual matter, so this just gave them a reason to go full on passive-aggressive insult mode. They were determined to do it sooner or later, so they made up a bunch of outrage and concern in order to justify it.

All that said, I'm envisioning the type person or type crowd that would take their bait, and it's not good. That crowd is undesirable anyway, so who gives a shite what they'd think.

You don’t stay at a place like Notre Dame and win consistently if nobody wants to work for you

Louisianians have such a weird inferiority complex, and a big part of their identity and self-worth comes from how others perceive LSU’s head coach. Would rather go 9-3 with a coach everybody else wants or “respects” than win championships with “cartoon characters.”

This is the only part of your post that disagrees with me. I agree with your outlook WRT the remainder of your thoughts.

Here's how I disagree with your quote: there is a pre-judged tone from national sports journalists when it comes to LSU and La. This doesn't arise from something within the psyche of LSU fans, like for example an "inferiority complex".

LSU fans are like most people - they want to feel the love coming from the TV talking heads. That's not going to happen for LSU very often. Anybody can objectively analyze TV sports talk and see this.

It's more fun for national sports media to have a Les Miles or a Coach O to talk about. It gives them funny content. The fact that their fun is often at LSU's expense concerns them not - LSU doesn't pay their salary.

So, what I'm saying is this: if LSU fans sometimes allow ESPN talking heads make them feel bad about themselves, it's not because LSU fans have an inferiority complex, it's because ESPN talking heads often cover LSU in a negative or condescending light.

Sorry, I meant Playoff game. I wasnt trying to discount what they have coming up. And I get their points, but its not like CBK walked into a well oiled machine. He is taking over a project that needs his attention and a ND playoff run would need all of his attention.

I'd feel a lot better about all that investment if I were also convinced that this very forward attack on our new coach isn't going to leave a mark. Catch my drift? Sure, he's a big boy, but it's not unreasonable to say that these actions are rare in the world of coaching changes, if not unprecedented, so it would seem perhaps beneficial to let your $95 million investment know everyone's behind him. Couldn't hurt.

I just don’t see this at all and I’m as big a LSU homer as anyone. When experts call us out for not playing LSU football for example…that’s a compliment that they think we are a better program than what we have shown. I think they are more complimentary of LSU than negative or condescending. Of course you will have some that are negative but unless they are lying it shouldn’t be something LSU fans get offended by. This board tends to hate in Herbie and he is very complimentary of our program and sometimes his honesty might hurt some fans feelings.

Lol the fairy godmother was Scott Woodward. BK quoted that he wasn’t leaving ND, until SW talked to him after he showed alittle interest in the LSU job. BK quoted that he was never talked to like Scott did before. So it shows how powerful SW is. Scott is going to be the reason LSU athletics is placed up top in many sports.

Coach BK is a perfect fit because he went out of his way to want to be here/there. And he did have to go out of his way. Seems like the makings of something very special, if confidence and positivity can be maintained at a high level at this particular time of dumbassery on the part of these waterheads. It sorta feels like a bit of a "delicate" time and situation that needs to be managed by those who would manage such things, until the storm of idiocy blows over.
