We have the One China policy. The right answer here is that if Taiwan elects to form stronger bonds with China, then we let them. China is already on a path to doing this. They are only posturing because of idiots like Pelosi. Instead of putting rifles in Taiwan, we need to start making chips here in the US.

What's wrong with arming the Taiwan citizens with rifles to defend themselves?
That's why Hitler didn't invade Switzerland. That is why we dropped the bombs on Japan because the armed citizenry of Japan would've fought vigorously and killed many thousands of our troops if we had to invade.

Seems like there was a president, not that long ago, that was pushing for more manufacturing to come back to the IS from China. Not just chips but all manufacturing.

If the Taiwanese Americans Ive met are reflective of those who still live in Taiwan I believe they would be fanatical in defending that island if properly armed and supported.
They want absolutely nothing to do with the CCP and many would rather die than live as a targeted group under their control.

I can imagine just plopping an AR in an unsuspecting, never-seen-a-gun Taiwanese dad's hands and giving him a 15-minute rundown on how to use it.

Just saying... an NRA in Taiwan would not help prevent an invasion. The only thing that it would cause is a lot of dead Taiwanese. It would be Ukraine 2.0. Just giving arms and funds and forbidding Taiwan from negotiating or talking about peace.
It wouldn't happen though, thankfully... I believe our government is so intertwined with China that they wouldn't do shite to stop China from taking Taiwan. So the conflict would probably start and end relatively quickly.
