What was the boards verdict on Stranger Things 2?

Just got around to watching it. Finished last night.
I seem to not recall many threads on it when it came out, but maybe I wasn’t on the board much and missed them.

Good fun overall, but it doesn't reach the heights of Season 1.

Solid.
Not as good as season 1.
Episode 7 sucked. Pretend it didn't happen.

I feel the episode was setting up things for next season.
I thought it was great. Liked season 1 slightly better.

I liked ep 7. Idk why everyone thinks it sucked
It was different, yes, but developed elle a lot. Plus Chicago is generally cooler than Hawkins for a 80s set

I didn't care for the Eleven episode either but it did give her some backstory and set up other characters that can come into play.
Overall, I did enjoy the season. It wasn't as good as season 1 due to the mystery of season 1 versus a straight forward story in season 2.

Liked it. Not as good as season 1 but will definitely be waiting on season 3.

2 was great, but not as good a 1.
Look forward to 3 and see what happens

Steve was Awesome
The stupid punk oceans 11 episode was God awful.
The gay stepbrother thing was very unresolved and unnecessarily disappointing.
Max was a throw away character.
The acting was great again.
Very solid overall.

Theres a long thread probably on pg 2 or 3. Loved it.

It had some cringey moments but liked it just as much as S1. Also unlike most, I enjoyed E7 getting out of that podunk one demogorgon town to go to Chicago for one episode.

Ep. 7 is “the Fly” episode.
Season 2 wasn’t nearly as scary or suspenseful but good acting and writing, otherwise.
Hoping for better season 3.

I enjoyed it. Though the callbacks to the past in Futureman I enjoy even more.

I believe the Duffers have come out and said they pushed a bunch of the new family material into season 3 to make room for the Eleven sidestory. Juat really feel like that was a mistake. Eleven meeting and interacting with other experiments(?) should be a season-long arc.
They half-assed what should have been a main arc, and appear to be promoting a sideplot (Mad Max and Young Rob Lowe) to a main plot for S3, given their comments about wanting a more grounded antagonist and human problems.

Pretty good, but nowhere near as good as S1

The board mostly loved it.
I thought it was great. Some are saying season 1 > season 2, but it's not like there's a big difference between the two. If you want to nitpick the quality of each season, go ahead. I thought it was just as much fun as season 1.

Agreed. Loved both seasons. Can't wait for the third.

I don't get all of the episode 7 discussion.
Season 1 had 8 episodes. Season 2 had 9 episodes.
It's not like fans of the show were screwed out of anything with that add in episode. It was obviously placed in there more as a setup for next season.

Loved it. I look forward to watching it more than anything else right now. I thought Season 2 did a great job of being somewhat different from the formula of Season 1.
The new characters (Eight, Billy and Bob) added a lot to the plot. I personally thought Max seemed a little forced and was just along for the ride.
Going into the season you thought it would be all about 11/Jane and it really wasn't.

I liked it overall.
I think had episode 7 been moved up to 6 and 6 moved to 7 the reaction to it wouldn't have been so bad. 6 ended with such a "OH shite ITS ON" moment that getting yanked away to something completely different for an entire episode was jarring.
Breaking up and editing 7 into 5, 6, and 8 could have maybe worked as well but would have required a bunch more work.
