With the constant reboots or "reimagining" of movies, especially horror, are there any that are better than the original in your opinion at all?

Dredd > Judge Dredd.

The Nolan Batman trilogy was better than the Burton-Schumacher franchise.

just because Alfred and Gordon were played by the same actors, i would hardly call this the "Burton-Schumacher" franchise.

Every version of A Star is Born has been better than the version that preceded it.

The Thing > The Thing From Another World

Cronenberg’s The Fly > Vincent Price’s The Fly

Little shop of horrors
True Grit
The Blob

this next one is a strange one
Evil dead 2 > evil dead 1 even though they are the same main actor, same story, same director.

As in, you think the 2011 version is better? Really? I've never heard anyone say that before.

Edit: Inferring from pevetohead post, there was a Thing From Another World movie before the Thing. I was not aware of this.

The 2011 Thing wasn't a remake it was a prequel about the Norwegians that were there before Kurt Russell and crew.

Dune

And I’d even go as far to say the movie is as good or better than the book. Always thought the book was overrated but the movie was incredible

Great answer. Sadly I have never seen Dredd in a theater because I wasted money on Stallone's Judge Dredd, and assumed Dredd would be as bad. I thought Dredd was a sequel.

I couldn't have been more wrong. Dredd is a great watch. It, and Lawnmower Man are two pretty much forgotten movies I wish I could have seen in a theater. I feel the same way about Apocalypto, but don't think it has been forgotten.

The newer Jumanji movies with The Rock, Kevin Hart, and Jack Black are hilarious. The original was good, but I think the newer ones are better.

Live action Aladdin was better than the original- that might be the only cartoon to live action adaptation you can say that about.

I think he was being sarcastic. The 2000's thing is widely regarded as one of the worst follow up movies of all time.
