It nearly topped the last Jedi for the worst movie of the entire saga
The lesbians kissing and holding hands at the end
It was awful

I take it they weren't lipstick lesbians or that would have gotten a rise out of Skywalker amirite?

THAT’S what you remember from that movie? I mean, it sucked, but two people holding hands and having a kiss is pretty irrelevant unless you are super insecure about your own sexuality.

It tops it.
It ultimately killed the franchise....somehow..

Do they look like you? Do you feel represented yet?
You know, adding the scene screams sexual insecurity.
Guess your not smart enough to figure that out.

Not really. Some folks just don't want to see that shite. Especially when it is completely Unnecessary and contrived for the sake of being woke. Personally, I don't care about any showing of PDA unless I am in the mood to watch porn.

I watched ten minutes of it recently and couldn’t do it. When Poe was hyperspace skipping or whatever crap he was doing I immediately turned it off

Spoilers: Palpatine ultimately won. His spawn is ruling the universe masquerading under his enemies’ name to soil their reputation

This one is actually worse than Last Jedi. The writing is so bad I can't believe they actually shot and released it.
-good guys getting chased in 2 different speeders by the bad guys on desert terrain.
-one gets shot down, characters fall onto sand
-second one gets shot down after further chasing, land in exact same spot as others.
-only after second group lands do we see that it's space quicksand
-good guys sink into secret tunnel, the roof of which is space quicksand
-the sacred dagger just so happens to be a few feet away. what luck!
-they randomly encounter a giant snake, which Rey heals, just to show that she can do that
They walk out of the cave and just so happen to be standing in the exact spot needed to look at the dagger and the death star in the distance to determine where the other McGuffin thingy is
That's about a 20 minute segment of the movie. Let the writers strike. AI could easily do better than that.

"Somehow Palpatine returned."

The worst flaw of Rise of Skywalker in my opinion is that The Last Jedi left the trilogy at such a narrative dead end that they essentially had to combine the plot of two movies into a single film. Nothing is given time to breathe and the whole thing feels rushed as hell.
The end of the film and the trilogy in general does nothing to push the Star Wars narrative forward. At best, it just moves the goalpost from the OT back another 30 years.
The one good idea from The Last Jedi was this idea that both the Jedi and the Sith were failures that essentially needed to die off. I would design the third film around both Kylo and Rey finding a balance between the light and dark side of the force in order to ultimately establish a new order of force users that draw from both sides of the force.

Must be why it was put in the film to begin with. It certainly had nothing to do with advancing the plot of the film.

The writing in the sequels is just so bad. I don’t have the energy to even go through it again…but for starters…
Empire lost? Well we need some bad guys so let’s assume they just sat back and allowed the first order to form so the heroes can be rebels again….along with Leia who would probably be the most beloved and powerful political figure ever after RotJ.
Death Star was terrifying? Now we have multiple planet killing tools at our disposal that obviously took a ridiculous amount of time and technology to build and can destroy multiple planets at once! Good thing nobody noticed this going on. .
Force is powerful and mysterious? Now you can do anything with it with no training! Hold ships from moving, teleport objects, heal…. Too bad all of the previous Jedi didn’t know this.
The Emperor….who was barely even seen until RotJ was the ultimate villain. Hell yeah, let’s bring him back from the dead!
Star destroyers are cool! Let’s make 1000 of them, fully staffed and without anyone knowing this was going on.
I mean it goes on…and on…and on.

don't give a shite about any of the identity politics that were inserted. I just don't care.
But this movie simply made no sense from a plot and motivation perspective.
Funnily enough, this movie and the new game, Jedi: Survivor, revolved around similar themes, in that the good guy and the bad guy were both trying to find a map/compass to get to some long lost/hidden area of space that you otherwise can't get to. Jedi:Survivor made sense and did this much much better, with much more compelling characters and motivations.
It shouldn't be hard to come up with a story that is compelling and makes sense within the framework of an established universe. Disney Star Wars on the big screen has managed to do that twice in a row.

The scene lasted maybe 1 second.

JArJar was the key. It was like poetry. It rhymed. If they could have just got JarJar working.

They spent 4 billion dollars to acquire the property. Even for a mega-corporation like Disney, that's a big chunk of change. It's unfathomable that they:
a) would ok making a trilogy, without having a clearly conceived plot for the entire thing
b) would accept any plot that basically refutes the original story, or otherwise seriously impacts the future viability and earning potential of the franchise.
Because ultimately, it is still a business, and making money is the goal.

Last Jedi is better than Rise of Skywalker.
Last Jedi had its flaws, but it also has some really good stuff. There's nothing redeeming about Rise of Skywalker.
