Officers arrested 46-year-old Edward Liroff after investigators say he lied on his application for a job as a compliance officer with the City of Port St. Lucie.
The investigation into Liroff began when the City of Port St. Lucie Assistant Director of Neighborhood Services received his application last month.
Authorities said Liroff claimed he served in the U.S. Military from 1988-2004.
Liroff also claimed he was the recipient of:
• Silver Star Medal
• Legion of Merit Medal
• Bronze Star Medal
• Purple Heart Medal (Second Award)
• Air Medal for Valor
• Army Commendation Medal
• Army Achievement Medal
• Good Conduct Medal
• Nation Defense Medal
• Southwest Asia Service Medal
• Kosovo Campaign Medal
• Afghanistan Campaign Medal
• Iraq Campaign Medal
• Global War on Terrorism Service Medal
• Armed Forces Service Medal and Award for Operations Relating Former Rep. Yugoslavia
• Humanitarian Service Medal
• Several Service Ribbon
• Combat Infantryman's Badge (Second Award)
• Combat Medical Badge
• Air Assault Badge
The Assistant Director forwarded Liroff's application to Officer Joseph Byrne, who noticed several irregularities with Liroff's DD214 form.
According to police, Byrne concluded that Liroff never served in the military, received treatment from the Veteran's Administration, fraudulently obtained a Florida Driver's license with Veteran's classification, fraudulently obtained a Florida's Purple Heart vehicle registration, and presented a fake DCD214 document to get a job with the city of Port St. Lucie.
Liroff is facing charges of uttering forged instrument, unlawful use of uniforms, medals, insignia to gain benefits, and fraudulently obtaining a Florida Driver's License after he tried to secure a job with the City of PSL using a fraudulent DD214 form.

He really went for it. Thank you for not serving.

Why do people care about this? Sure, I lied on my resume and fooled myself. I was like why did I quit being a physician.

Air Medal for Valor
Any you Army fellas have knowledge on this...I mean, does the ARMY give out Air Medals to helicopter crews or is it strictly an AF ribbon/award?
NM...further investigation shows all the branches can award the Air Medal (variants of) to their respective aircrew members...if they ACTUALLY are an aircrew member that is

I would love to hear him have a discussion with a younger Mattis.

He looks like that type.

I posted on here awhile back about a guy I knew from work that wanted people to call him “gunny” and always talked about his military service. Well, he eventually got busted for some other type of scam involving contracts for building or maintaining cell phone towers or something like that.
I dont understand why people do this. I understand wanted to be respected, but lying about something like that had to make the liar feel very hollow inside.

Legion of Merit medal is usually reserved for high ranking officers like Generals and sometimes Colonels.
The scope of these medals would require someone to have a lot of different jobs: Air Medal, Combat Medical badge AND Combat Infantryman badge. If I saw all these on someone I'd assume they were either full of crap or a Special Ops guy, but then the Legion of Merit would tell me he's probably full of crap.

What if he identifies as a vet with all of those medals?? Maybe he’s transveteran

Im always confused by these clowns that want to brag about the fact that when they were graduating HS they were too stupid to go to college and ended up in the service.

This just draws attention. If you're just trying to scam some benefits you're better off claiming a couple ARCOMS's.

Might have well just claimed the congressional Medal of Honor while he’s at it.
So he used VA services and they didn’t catch the fraud?

At least he was still less in your face about it than an average vet

You only notice the vets that are "in your face about it".
