At what age did you grasp the significance of history or historical events?

Or are you still oblivious to the concept?

I was pretty oblivious about something being a historical event in real time until 9/11 at age 7

I have zero confidence that anything I am living through will be remembered in the malleable history that my generation has embraced.

Well, I lived through it, so pretty darn early.

When I was a young man and realized we elected a fascist in 2016. I wept for days.

I started becoming interested in history around the 7th grade. We had Louisiana history as social studies and I was amazed at all the history that involved our state

Seeing images of protests in Romania and about the fall of the Berlin wall on tv when I was 10 or 11.

We were taught words on paper. Dates, names, places on a map. But the older I get, the more fascinating & mysterious the past becomes.

*The Great Pyramids. Underground structures. Massive monoliths & lost / buried cities.

And before someone just says “slaves”, think of the incredible engineering without any ‘modern’ tools or equipment. Takes massive resources & planning. That required order & a sophisticated society.

Mind bending stuff.

*Interesting facts about the Pyramids of Giza.

- Mammoths were still alive when the Pyramids were completed.

- On the timeline, we're closer to Cleopatra than she was to the building of the Great Pyramids.

Yep. Look around the modern world. It's politics, borders, and conflicts are largely defined by what he and a little Browning pistol accomplished on June 28th, 1914.

When I had to register for the draft in 1978 with the Iran problems going on and then when Reagan was elected. The possibility of being on the front line makes you pay attention.

I love history so I think I’ve always had that sense. I started saving newspaper clippings when “big” events happened. The 1993 federal government raid on the Branch Davidians, the 1993 WTC bombing, Mark McGuire breaking Mickey Mantle’s home run record (asterisk for steroids), Columbine, 9/11; etc.

I had a solid grasp of it, then 9/11 happened and made me appreciate it more.

Fast forward 20 years...we are watching citizens of this country openly support removing history they don't like. Makes me appreciate it even more.

Once our modern day Nazis are done canceling and removing, you will have entire generations oblivious again, which is the goal.

The 2nd time my dad whooped my arse for doing something again. I understood that if history repeated itself I’d get the belt again.

Very young when I realized Cronkite was a leftist scum before most people. Nowadays he would be considered mid of the road, but he was a leftist.
