Is Your Horribly Racist/Sexist/Transphobic Company "Diversity Ditching"?

"Diversity Ditching", for those of you who aren't as awesome as those of us more-awesome people who actually value diversity (It's our strength!), is when Corporate Hiring talks a big game but then ends up hiring and promoting more boringly competent racist straight white people. All of you should join me in denouncing this behavior. LINK
The funky white-woman author also has incredibly brilliant articles about why she cut ties with her father , why people are leaving Florida because it is a "toxic" state, and many other excellent reads. Sadly she is married, although I would not be so regressive as to assume that she is not in a nurturing polyamorous relationship with other enlightened people of any number of genders and or racial groups or social constructs.
Ms. (SHE HER) Minshew makes an excellent point. I recently in fact turned down an excellent condiment-expert position at a local hot dog emporium because I felt Sal the owner refused to demonstrate a sufficient commitment to serving the black Trans community.

While many companies were once eager to present themselves as progressive through the false promise of DEI efforts, actually implementing diversity practices requires significant effort and funding. The financial commitment may be a notable reason why some companies have been guilty of ‘diversity ditching.’ Minshew notes that the combination of budget cuts to DEI programs and failing to see companies practice what they preach could be a recipe for disaster. She believes that the trend of ditching diversity efforts could alienate young talent who value inclusion within the workplace.

Minshew maintains that diversity is a make-or-break factor for most people when it comes to accepting a job offer, saying, “I don't think that the job seeker pool is going to care less about [diversity].” She went on to challenge companies who decide to veer away from DEI plans, saying, “The question that I ask a lot of employers is whether they're willing to be caught flat-footed or behind the curve when the labor market becomes stronger, and they struggle to keep talent in a more pronounced way because of their lack of attention to diversity

I prefer just ignoring these people. Getting rid of my television is the best decision I have ever made.

She is not wrong. Keeping incompetent employees on staff requires additional funding.

A sad sad person that this describes

DEI is a kabuki dance at best.
At worst it just puts more work on the competent employees who are paid the same or less than their “diverse” peers. Employees are going to need to stand up to this bullshite. You’re not going to pay me the same for 50 hours of productivity as you do for 32 hours of bullshite pandering to Shantelia (they/them).

Does diversity mean pay, because at the end of the day that’s all that really matters. Shitty work environment? Pay a lot more…

I disagree. How valuable is money really, if you can't spend your day being culturally enriched by the company of black lesbian transexual Communist witchcraft gamers in the workplace. You need to broaden your horizon past capitalism, Mr. Man....

I assume that if she has kids, they're all in various states of transitioning

It’s all good and well, promoting diversity, until it comes time to hire or promote members of the alphabet community…and you realize you can’t give them any type of responsibility because they are unreliable and unstable and can’t be trusted to make logical decisions.
How many people ever said, “I trust this person that decided to chop his dick off to make intelligent, thoughtful decisions that will be in the best interest of this company.”
None. That’s how many. Because it’s crazy.

I don’t even fricking care anymore. They claim they hire diversely but every valve turner out is is from Evangeline parish and basically retarded.

I bet that she colors her hair.

this was bound to happen...you shove this non-sensical requirement down companies throats, successful ones aren’t going to alter their hiring promotion practices...they are going to get smart, find a way to check a box and keep moving.
Wild idea...instead of demanding that you get a position because you are a minority, maybe you can..idk...work harder to be qualified for that position?

It's all for show. The first groups to get downsized/cut during Covid were DEI and then again over the last year and a half.

Even POC employees want competent fellow employees. Also, everyone is tired of the constant race baiting. I retired but in June they were handing out little bags of rainbow Skittles outside of the cafeteria. Everyone was trying to avoid the little weirdos doing it.

It is kind of funny. A company beats its chest explaining how much it supports DEI, forcing it on us. And hire a very few to look goods. But most new hires are all the typical folks.

A couple of weeks back at a training seminar, I overheard a older female colleague (probably mid 50's) being accused of using heteronormative vernacular by referring to her husband as her husband. The preferred term is "partner" or "spouse". The person who pointed this out is a much younger female with a non-traditional haircut and a nose ring - which is in violation of our dress code at the office.
I had a lot of fun introducing myself to the group later and noted that I have been married to my wife for a number of years and we have a young daughter. I made eye contact with that person when I said "wife" and "daughter" and they didn't say anything.
The 40ish year old guy sitting next to us was gay and described his spouse as his husband. So even the gay guy thinks this terminology bullshite is too much.
It took all I could do to not laugh at that.
I'll continue referring to my wife as my wife in conversation. I don't judge anyone based on their sexuality or how they refer to their significant other, and I expect that to be reciprocated. My company would never fire me for that....but if they do, I'll see them in court.

One in particular.....but it's for do-nothing roles in government.
