Newly discovered bodies of Revolutionary War soldiers in South Carolina

LINK
These soldiers had been buried only five to six inches below the surface. There were some clothing artifacts discovered along with uniform decorations, both from Continental and British soldiers. Crazy how time stands still with these things. You feel like this generation of people had been forgotten in the sands of time, and then find out a huge discovery like this which brings you to the realization that this society of people really existed at one time. No amount of written history or paintings will have as much of an impact as something like this.

Seems that you don’t really appreciate findings like this. That’s cool though it’s whatever

I couldn't imagine stumbling upon such a find while searching for artifacts or metal detecting or however these guys were stumbled upon. Awesome that they are reburying them honorably.

There's another thread about this that you may like. Not making a Germans comment, just saying that you'd probably appreciate that thread. It should still be on the first few pages.

if you look back ONE DAY in our past, you would find this very subject buried a couple of pages back

Modern archaeologists are leaving nothing for their future colleagues. The next generation of archaeologist are going to be very disappointed.

There is a ton of land out there that hasn’t been searched. Hell there are wrecks of ships and planes we can’t find and we know roughly where they went down

According to various sources I have searched, the Americans only lost 4,500 soldiers in battle. That is shocking to me, I figured it was at least 5 times that.
However, we did lose about 20,000 guys to disease and in POW camps. Back then dying from disease or to the elements was more common than dying to a rifle round or cannon ball. This is well documented from observers at the time. Americans were freezing and starving to death on the battle field. Many had no shoes and had to walk around barefoot, etc.
So it would be an extremely rare find for an archaeologist to find a soldier killed in battle who was not collected and properly buried at the time.

Maybe not. Just think that only 200 years ago, we didn’t know that dinosaurs existed.
And until just recently we found out that there were vast metropolis’s in the Amazon.
There’s a lot out there that we still do not know about

Nobody's ever found Mu, Lemuria, or Atlantis yet, so there's still time to find the really cool mind-blowing shite.

Man, there are cities in South America that the Spanish visited, and wrote about that we can't even locate today. Our understanding of history is pathetically incomplete.

You’re such a d-bag.
Try a little tenderness.

Much tougher people who had a purpose. Makes you realize you don’t have to have everything. Now everyone has to have million dollar home, swimming pool and 10 cars. Toughness and character meant a lot, not just your wealth. If people who watch some old westerns they would realize people did a lot with a whole lot less. Neat find.
