When is an acceptable age to give alcohol to someone else’s kid?

We went to a NYE party last night and the party host was freely offering alcohol to kids as young as 14… provided that they didn’t have more than 2 drinks (there was no way to control that) and that the kid was spending the night.
I have no issue with parents giving their kids a drink at whatever age they deem appropriate. I could also understand letting other kids drink at 16/17 if they are not driving because the reality is they probably will anyways.
But 14 / HS freshman seems too young to me.
My kid did not partake and we left the party early because we were all very uncomfortable.

You can legally give booze to your own underage kid, big no no to give booze to another underage kid

Who was hosting, Uncle Touchy? Parents are free to let their children try when they deem fit but other adults shouldn’t be making those decisions

I wouldn't give alcohol to any kid besides my own. That's how you get sued into oblivion

Perfect example of people needing to stop worrying about what other people do in their life.

Someone is getting diddled

Depends on how hot she is

I don’t think it’s ever okay to offer someone else’s kid alcohol unless parent is there

18 unless they are related or kids of a close personal friend and only with their parents' permission. Even in those cases, 16 would seem like the floor, and the drinks would be extremely weak.

Do you want your kids drinking behind your back, uncontrolled? Or do you want to teach them responsible behavior? 14 is a bit young, though.
Agree.
But that should be up to the individual parent

If anybody is at my house under 21, they aren’t getting alcohol provided by me unless their parents know about it (and likely even none at all). That’s just asking for trouble IMO.
Them spending the night changes things a bit, but I’m still not giving alcohol to anybody without their parents involved in some way.

Was it a male giving booze to a 14-year-old female, who was scheduled to spend the night?
That would be a huge no, and her parents needed to be informed, immediately.

I drank heavily from about 13 to 30, so I got nothing.

HS freshman if the kids parents were ok with it and being responsible. I guess I wouldn’t care. I was drinking as a freshman in HS. If he were doing shots or something then different story. Still at 14 if you’re going to give someone like that a drink, prob best to do it in a more private setting.

Before that is not your choice.. after that is not your choice.. his
Why would you open yourself to the level of legal problems involved in what you witnessed?

As a parent, it’s frustrating when you try to teach your kids right from wrong and they are surrounded by adults making bad decisions.

In Louisiana your <21 can drink at your home, even without your permission. In Florida we don't allow anyone under 21 to drink, regardless of the situation.

Of course, I do not consider anyone over 18 years of age to be a child, but that is another discussion altogether.
