Anyone ever spent Christmas alone?

I did it twice. Once in college, the other working out of state. People make it sound real bad, but it was pretty cool. Quiet and relaxing. I spent most of the day on the sofa with a blanket. Movies, video games, eating, sleep, and repeat…all uninterrupted.

People can say what they will, and I liked being alone for a while, but there comes a point you just feel really empty without anyone to care for and vice versa.

Yes, in residency out of state
Drank all day, fapped, played ps3. Would do again.

This will be my first ever. Not quite sure how I feel about it yet.

Nope, never any alone time for any period of time with kids.

Not alone but one year the wife and I went to the camp instead of driving all over south LA to make both sides of the family happy. We had a great time and smoked the fish.

Seems pretty sad on Christmas. I get everyone wants a Saturday like that every once in a while, but not on Christmas

A few times when I couldn’t make it home due to work. It was fine. I made a mini version of Christmas dinner and binge watched a bunch of tv.
This year I’m not going home but I’ve been invited a bunch of places so I won’t be alone.

Get everything Christmas out of your head and have the mentality that the 25th is just like any other day. Find activities to keep you busy like cleaning, reading, watching movies, and taking care of projects.

Twice, stuck in Beijing as part of their fricked-up government negotiating tactic while my widowed mom was home wishing I was there.
ETA: made me appreciate future Christmases with the family a lot more.

Does the ICU count? I am pretty sure there was someone watching me the entire time but I was pretty fricking high too.

Once. It was probably the year or so I lost so much in my life. Ex had the kids. Family stuff was all done. Hung out with cousins but eventually they went home and then it was the loudest silence ever. I couldn’t bear to put up a proper tree that year so just had a little one on the table I had let the kids decorate…and so there was just this empty space, in an empty house, staring back at me.
I can understand why some people don’t like Christmas. It hurts when you don’t have those love close. The lights and decorations can mock you. It becomes easier to become a Scrooge than to open yourself up to being hurt again.
And then someone called out the blue. Asking how I was doing. And I didn’t lie that time and say I was okay. Instead of spending Christmas with rum and regret, I spent it with someone that cared.
So if you are feeling blue on Christmas, or know someone that is, reach out. You can make more of a difference than you know

Six years in a row when I was working 7 on and 7 off. I was 18-24 years old no kids and single. The first couple years it was an adjustment

I've spent at least 1 Thanksgiving alone, and I'm pretty sure I've been alone for Christmas before.
Honestly, it jaded me pretty bad. I couldn't give a shite less about any holiday now.
