What happened to " The U"? Will it ever be a national power again?

All I know that it is a small private school in the rich part of Miami and the academic level there is high. Will the football team ever be a dynasty again?

They’ll get talent with Mario and as long as Ruiz’s fraudulent company stays somewhat afloat, but that clown is never going to win anything of importance. It was a sad day when Oregon was able to get rid of him and hire a real coach.

Supposedly their administration has deemphasized football. I don't know. Anyone know how their NIL game is? Their alumni (Sapp, Lewis, Irvin, Reed, etc.) even seem checked out.

They've never recovered from that 2002 title game loss.
One minute they are being called "the greatest team in history", going for back-to-back titles, on a 30+ game winning streak.
They lost that Title game and dropped off the face of the earth.
Kind of bizarre.

Doubtful. They had a good run in 80’s and early 90’s. Plenty of programs will never reach that level of success.

Not really.

They died when everyone else started recruiting Miami

No. Cocaine money dried up. Everyone's getting paid across the country now

Miami’s administration holds them back. It’s a sleeping giant.

That’s what happened to the U.

Come on, now. If they would have given Richt 15 years, he would have built a foundation for someone else to win with.

Maybe. Maybe not.
Maybe go F yourself.

Academic level isn't high for athletes.

1. I think money becoming such a big part of winning (through skyrocketing salaries for coaches and a neverending arms race for the best facilities) has hurt the U.
2. Not playing at the Orange Bowl anymore has hurt the program’s mystique. Both the the Dolphins and Hurricanes have sucked outside their Orange Bowl days.
3. Nationwide recruiting hasn’t helped. More programs are poaching players from the “State of Miami,” as Howard Schnellenberger called it.

Getting the shite kicked out of them during and after the 2005 Peach Bowl by LSU was the final nail in the coffin for that program.

Nope.
They could’ve replaced Coker with Gary Patterson and instead hired Randy Shannon. Instead of renovating the orange bowl, an intimidating home field stadium, they tore it down.
Through negligence and incompetence, their leadership and decision makers absolutely destroyed that program. They had a Ferrari and crashed it off the lot into a telephone pole
