Hasn't he said he has gone to games in disguise and no one has recognized him.

Alou probably doesn’t catch the ball anyway. Feel sorry for that guy.

not really.

There were dozens of fans around him doing the same damn thing, and what most people would have done. He just happened to be the one nearest the ball.

The reaction from the player is what really caused the backlash

Alex Gonzalez booting the routine double play was a far more significant play than the Bartman play. What Cubs fans did to that man was absolutely shameful.

I just read that the Cubs sent him a ring after their 2016 World Series.

Thought he hasn’t done any media ever about what happened that night?

Maybe it was some friends of his or something that said he had done it. I believe it was mentioned on the 30 for 30

The ultimate clown move was the organization publicly "forgiving" Bartman after winning the WS.

The club never had his back, let him be the scapegoat for the team fricking up a great chance to get to the WS, but hey they forgave HIM!

Actually I think he is the opposite. Dude wanted no publicity and has pretty much lived under the radar... could you imagine the attention whores now being in the limelight like he was and pretty much fading into anonymity.

The sequence of events following the Bartman incident - keeping in mind that the scores was 3-0 Chicago, runner on 2nd with 1 out:

Mark Pryor throws a wild pitch, walking the batter and allowing the runner to advance to 3rd.

Iván Rodríguez singles to drive in a run, 3-1 Cubs.

Alex Gonzalez boots a grounder. Bases loaded, 1 out.

Derrek Lee doubles, driving in 2. Game tied 3-3, runners at 2nd and 3rd with 1 out.

Farnsworth intentional walks Mike Lowell, bases loaded 1 out.

Jeff Conine hits a sac fly, score is now 4-3 Marlins. Wild throw by Sosa misses the cut-off man, Lowell moves to second base. Runners at 2nd and 3rd, now 2 outs.

Another intentional walk to load the bases.

Double by Mike Mordecai clears the bases, 7–3 Marlins with 2 outs.

Pierre singles to drive in a run. Florida ahead 8–3 with 2 outs.

Luis Castillo, who was the batter during the incident, pops out to second to end the top of the 8th inning.

Chicago allowed 8 runs in 1 inning. They didn't score again, and lost the series in game 7 (which they led 5-0 going into the 5th inning). Much like with the Red Sox and Bill Buckner, it's always overshadowed that this all happened in game 6 and there were multiple mishaps by several different players that led to the collapse.

Fun tidbit, Buckner was wearing a Chicago Cubs batting glove under his fielding glove when he misplayed that grounder.

They never had a 5-0 lead. They were down 3 in the second and tied it up and then went up 5-3 in the 4th. They then gave up 3 in the 5th, 1 in the 6th and 2 in the 7th and then the Cubs plated a run in the 7th to end the scoring and the Cubs went on to lose 9-6.

No doubt. If Alou doesn't jump around pointing like a petulant child not a damn word would've been said
