Alright my tiggers. Let's educate you on the sham that is the college football invitational, and this strength of schedule garbage.
First, for those of you that complain that UCF needs to schedule P5 teams for OOC games: they do. Since it seems many here don't actually know how it works, scheduling is done years in advance, and it's a roll of the dice on if those teams are actually going to be any good by the time you play them. UCF had UNC and Pitt scheduled this year. UNC, although cancelled due to hurricane, would have done nothing for the SoS. They are horrible. Earlier in the year, Pitt was looking the same, as we plowed them, but they ended up being the ACC division champ, but are still not that great.
It's been demonstrated time and time again that the highest a G5's strength of schedule can EVER be, is in the 60s. Because outside of those 2-3 OOC games, they have to play their conference games. And guess what, the people that make the polls are the same ones that tell us that G5 schools are lesser and can't be ranked as highly. It's a rigged system.
In no other sport do hear the BS about SoS, or not being able to compete against athletes of whatever conference. UCF's basketball just slammed Alabama's team last week, and it's just another day on the job. You know why? Because at the end of the day, these are all just 18-23 year olds on the field competing. Coaching and chemistry make all the difference, which is why you have Cinderella stories in every other sport except college football. Schools like LSU are offended by the thought of some new kid on the block beating you. But it happens more than you want to admit.
G5s won the majority of bowl games last year against P5s.
This stupid G5/P5 label has further clouded your vision, and created division where there is none. You can have all the 5 star recruits in the world, but if your coaching is sub par, and they don't gel together, it makes no difference. A great staff can coach up decent/good players to perform excellently in the right scheme. Further more, you have to realize that often times, those stars mean jack. UCF has one of the top QBs in the country, and NOBODY was even looking at him. It took a talented coach in Scott Frost that could recognize potential and a scheme to make it work.
That's why games aren't just played on paper.
I'll take my team with a chip on its shoulder over an entitled program any day!

Why are y’all so confidenced everybody thinks y’all suck? Don’t be so defensive you made it to number 8 with a terrible schedule nobody else with that schedule would of made it to the top 10. The schedule is terrible but I think the entire reason ufc is ranked number 8 is because of respect

Whether UCF wins or loses the Fiesta Bowl, they are and always will be a 3rd rate program. Just ask Boise State. From 2007 to 2010 they thought they were king of the world. Now they are back to being a nobody. So enjoy your time in the spotlight while you still can.
