Im starting to wonder.
Id appreciate you also letting me know why a person would want to keep a DC that doesn't recruit well and fielded the worst defense in LSU history.

Idk if it’ll be announced as a firing, parting ways or leaving for an NFL job but either way you cut it, I doubt House is back.

Are you asking if we think he will be retained or if we want him to be retained? Those are two totally different things.

Good Queston...What do you think and then if you think he will be retained, what could be the rationale for BK to use?

It doesn't matter what we want. BK is making the decision and it seems like he's sticking with his friend.

I posted this in another thread but here ya go....

If we bring in multiple quality position coaches (like we have on offense) it wouldn't be the worst thing (keeping House). I don’t think he forgot how to coach football nor do I believe CBK doesn’t know what a quality DC looks like.

If they’re keeping him there’s a good reason for it. Let’s not forget CBK let go his long time ally when special teams went to hell last season, he’ll do it again if he needs to.

I think the two biggest issues on D are lack of high talent/depth & lack of technique/fundamentals. Top flight position guys would go a long way to directly address both problems.

That all said, I wouldn’t be shocked (or upset) if they canned House.

I dont care of he is or not. Just improve the product.

Next year has to be a major improvement regardless or faith is gone in Kelly.

The main reason I think he could stay is because he hasn’t been let go yet, at least publicly.

I could see him staying on as a LB coach, but if we’re planning to move on from him as DC, then you’d think Kelly would allow the new DC to select his assistants that he’s comfortable with in his scheme.

Just like he stuck with his friend Polian after last year's special teams disaster, right?

Just because Kelly hasn't announced anything THREE days after the season has ended, doesn't mean there won't be changes. Of course, the fact he didn't announce House's firing 4 seconds after the conclusion of the A&M game is "proof" for the Rant Kelly is not making a change.

Its always easier to get a job when you have a job
I think Kelly is letting him look while he has the job still
Its a decent thing to do

No need to bleed a slow death by retaining and making subordinate changes. Just cut the disease off at the head and retool the whole thing. It’s not like we are at risk of losing recruits/transfers with the limited talent here and incoming on the defensive side.

Overhaul it now!

Tbob said this morning that he did some digging around the program and doesn't believe House will be let go. Predicts that it will be lower level position coaches that will be canned. BK is trying to establish his program and he needs as much time as he can buy. If he has another let down 9 win season with a terrible defense, he can use House as a scapegoat then and buy himself another season.

Think he knows the defense is supposed to tackle???

lack of technique/fundamentals

Kind of thought it was a coach’s responsibility to make sure this is fixed. Especially at this level where all the players should have fundamentals covered by now.

FIRE this incompetent bitch now and quit with the excuses. There is NO EXCUSE for this year’s shitshow.

What does this even mean? That House is calling the "don't tackle" play??? That's a fundamentals/technique/fatigue issue, all of which are not (mostly) DC issues.

I say mostly because he does coach LBs and they were out of position several times. THAT mostly falls on Matt House. Lane integrity (DL) and making basic switches (DB) those are not his fault and that was rampant all season, among other issues.

It is. Position coaches. That's literally why every top flight program has one dedicated to each position. Go look at our offensive coaches vs defensive coaches, the difference is DRAMATIC, so is the production (and recruiting).

I wouldn't exactly rely on T-Bob's logic.

Kelly is only going into year 3 of a 10 year, $100M contract. He's is at ZERO risk of being fired after next season. He doesn't need to make moves to "buy himself another season"

It's three days after the end of the season. THREE! Yet, it seems like at least half the rant is a DEFCON 1, convinced BK won't make a change at DC. In the process, completely ignoring history.

LSU's special teams were horrible last season. The coach was the only guy who followed Kelly from ND. When Kelly didn't fire Polian 20 seconds after the SECCG, half the rant was convinced (with "sources") Kelly was going to retain his "buddy". He didn't. Polian was let go. That was probably always the plan. But because he didn't come out immediately and meet his "obligation" of informing the fanbase of any and everything taking place in his program we had post identical to this one certain Kelly wasn't going to make a change.

Same exact thing happened in 2017. O and Canada where done with each other by early October. Yet, Canada finished the season as OC. The Rant was CERTAIN Canada was going to be fired the moment the clock struck zero in the last game of the reg. season. He wasn't.

Then he participated in bowl practice.
He was on staff during the early recruiting period!!!!!
He coached in the bowl game!!!!!
He was going to be kept at the OC!!!!! until...

it was formally announced 4 days later he would not be returning to LSU.

You don't get to make $2M a year with that product on the field as an asst coach

LSU and Kelly can't afford to NOT make a change

Too much damage and loss of goodwill

Announcement will come when he has his guy, and that guy is still coaching

And no, I have no idea who that is
