Result of taking FCS, Syracuse, Oregon St transfers. Is that really the best BK could do?

I find it hard to believe those were the best we could get. Were they just looking at 247 transfer top 50 rankings to decide? There are no backups in the SEC looking for immediate playing time at a program like LSU? There has to be SEVERAL that would chomp at the opportunity. The brand name and DBU alone just immediately sets them up to get drafted and make a fortune in the NFL, but no FCS, Nicholls St, Oregon St, Syracuse? Get outta here.
Other thing is STOP PLAYING 10 YARDS OFF THE LINE OF SCRIMMAGE CORNERBACKS. They immediately throw 7 yard slants and get 15 yards a pop before DBs have even met the WRs. I get so frustrated seeing our CB's 10 yards in front of the WR at the snap.

Omar Speights, Deuce Chestnut, Zy Alexander, Aaron Anderson, Denver Harris, Jordan Jefferson, all these dudes were studs last year. To have not taken them in the position we were in would have been foolish. It’s just unfortunate a couple of these guys have been complete busts.

Sounds like we really need to ramp up our NIL collective as we are losing to the fan bases desperate to win now tossing a lot more money at players.

You act like Oregon St is some D2 team or something. They won 10 games last year and we took their 1st team all Pac 12 LB. It's easy to say that now after a few games but absolutely everyone was stoked when the transfer happened and for good reason.

I don’t think it’s a talent problem. No one took over leadership of the defense and the coaches let it happen

Aaron Anderson didn’t even play last year

A couple?
So far 4 of those 6 are absolute busts. Completely useless.
Although I don’t think Anderson would be if Denbrock knew how to use him

I personally think Brian Kelly was too caught up in bringing in "Louisiana Players".
Majority of the transfers had ties to the state in one way or the other and that just isn't good enough to recruit a guy. If they are barely good at Southeastern then what the hell makes you think they can start for LSU.
The coaching staff needs to pull a full class of talented playmakers. The tranfer portal should only be a backup option for a few holes/depth.
You shouldn't be looking for starters in the damn portal. Other teams like Florida State signed quality transfers from quality programs, we should've been going after the same guys, not Louisiana Tech guys.
Maybe Kelly overestimated his ability to coach guys up. But CFB is about size and ability. Its a reason majority of those guys were at small schools, very few NFL players play at Tech/Southeastern.

We were going after the same guys as fsu. Fiske and the cb they got from Virginia. Verse the year before. Speights was supposed to be good. But I think he has been hurt too much. Missed all of spring and some of fall and looks slow and bigger then he was at oregon st. Duce also missed all of spring. Jefferson had knee surgery after last season and missed spring.

Not yearly. They were highly ranked from a recruiting standpoint.

Until they are in the portal, there is no way to know, and nothing you can do about it.

What nonsense.

Are you complaining about taking those guys, your meaning here is far from definitive. You should learn to use punctuation. I will assume you are complaining because we took players from non-SEC programs. Which is a lazy take or what you lazily perceive as lower-tiered programs. Good and even great players start showing up at every level of college football for various reasons. If you want to lament anything here, you're better off making it about talent evaluation than where they came from.

Hard to argue with that.

Once we saw Speights tapes most thought this would happen. People got mad about how dare people come at a first team linebacker from the pac.
Plenty of people pointed out things Speights would struggle with

Wow. It’s almost like it’s not that the transfers aren’t talented…
But they couldn’t be playing bad for any other reason…could they?

A competent dc could get the best of them. House isn't that guy.

Who then? You act like you know but don’t know Jack shite.

Anderson
I have full confidence he will be good for us down the road. We have 2 studs at WR and a couple that have shown flashes above Anderson in depth chart.
I fully expect MN8 and BTJ to go pro after this year and that will open up a lot of opportunities for Anderson. This is his first available year of college ball, he’s still got plenty of time to make an impact for the tigers.

Last season we started Converse from OK St and Garner from ULL at the CB positions. Foucha was a 3 star transfer from Arkansas at safety along with Brooks who was barely a 4 star. The only recruited starter was Ward who was also a 3 star.
That D looked substantially better than this season. They may have gotten beat, but at least played fundamentally sound for the most part.

Look at guys like Whit Weeks and Harold Perkins
They say “they don’t know the scheme yet” and are just winging it.
Doesn’t that say more about how shitty the scheme is? Our guys are being hampered by shitty defensive scheme. Too many checks/calls. Too many reads. These guys are student athletes and don’t have all day and all night to perfect their role within a scheme. House needs to rip 85% of his defensive calls out until the guys can execute the simple stuff.
